May De Ville Lakeside Hotel in Hanoi

All amenities were top notch, we especially enjoyed the pool and rooftop bar when it was sunny

Conveniently-located hotel near the Hoan Kiem lake. The property has wider entrance but the hallways and elevators are very narrow like other thin and slim boutique cheaper hotels in Hanoi Old Quarter. The room is also small and bathroom shower space is even much smaller than you expect for the hotel price, I had to reach out my hand into really narrow corner enclave to grab the shower nozzle. If you are aware that you are an oversize folk, it is advised to book upper-rate wide rooms. The better part is they have comfy and wide beds compared to similar-looking hotels nearby. The airconditioner is a smart and sharp one inside the ceiling and cools down the room quickly without much noise, but when I first entered the room the airconditioner was "heat / fan" mode only and I had to complain to the front desk to switch it to "cool" and waited more than 10 minutes in the humid room, because the front desk didn't inform anything whether someone would come to the room to fix it or it can be fixed remotely. It was fixed remotely but I don't understand why they limit the cooling function at all. The desk in the room was dusty and it was not obviously swipe-cleaned. Even before that dismay, nobody helped me carry the luggage to my room. The clerk just told me to follow her upto the room after check-in, with 10 kg+ heavy bags on my back and shoulders. I was confused in the lobby area, seeing around in disappointment, couldn't believe they were not going to carry my luggage, but she just prompted me to come after her. I never experienced such treatment before even at cheapest hotels in Vietnam. Even I do not give too negative grading, my stay was quite unsatisfactory. The best part was breakfast, the view from the restaurant and food is really great. Although the variety is not gorgeous, the quality and taste are comparable to more expensive luxury hotels in Hanoi. Honestly I can say the breakfast taste here is the best among the boutique hotels in Hanoi Old Quarter. The hotel has many good points but the operation should be improved.

Pretty good. The hotel's location is excellent, with a rooftop terrace offering panoramic views of Hoan Kiem Lake. There's also a pool on the roof, and the food is quite good too.

Very good hotel located in the heart of the old quarter makes local bars, restaurants, shops all easily accessible by short walk. Excellent location close to the beautiful Ho Hoan Kiem lake which is idyllic and touristy.
The breakfast at the hotel is very good. Omlette station, desserts and excellent coffee ☕️. We found all of the breakfast staff extremely friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Richard and Winnie who were brilliant and added to our positive experience of this hotel.
Would highly recommend this hotel for ease of getting around and seeing the sites snd attractions.

The room was very clean, and the hygiene was good, but the Wi-Fi signal disappeared as soon as the door closed! The front desk service was very enthusiastic! The breakfast was rich! It's very lively outside!

The room isn't huge, but it's clean enough. Soundproofing is so-so. The location is pretty good though, right in the old town's shopping area. The 'iceberg' is actually a lake, which is quite convenient.

Upgraded room as despite it saying internal window there is no window

This was advertised as “recently renovated,” but that wasn’t the reality. I booked a king bedroom and instead got two twin beds pushed together, which made the bedding uncomfortable and the sleep setup awkward. The decor, amenities, and overall aesthetic felt dated, right down to the staff uniforms.

The location is convenient for walking, but be prepared, it’s extremely loud and crowded at night, with nonstop music and street chaos. Think Bourbon Street in New Orleans or Times Square in NYC. If you’re a light sleeper or want a quiet retreat, this isn’t it.

To their credit, the staff clearly tries hard to make up for the shortcomings. They were attentive and went out of their way to help. That said, the private car they booked to the airport cost nearly double what a Grab would have been. I also switched on the “make up room” light before I left for the day, but it was ignored and I had to request cleaning again when I came back hours later.

This is not a five star experience. It’s more like a 3.5 to 4 star property at best. Do not expect luxury. Don’t expect to walk into Louis Vuitton when what you’re actually getting is closer to Kohl’s.
