Paradiso Phu Quoc Resort in Phu Quoc Island

Upon arrival it turned out that my reservation was not there. I paid for 2 nights in advance. I spent the night on a bench by the pool. They also refused to check me in for the second night. Be careful

If I could leave zero stars I would. The owner of this place is running a scam. You book and pay via any booking website and then you arrive and the manager says “no booking” to make you pay cash again. We booked through *******. While we were there a lady arrived from Korea with her small child and had booked and paid for 7 nights on Agoda. She also was told “no booking”. The manager shows you a “screen shot” sent through by the owner to “prove” he doesn’t have your booking. Total scam! They also turn the power off periodically. DO NOT COME HERE!!!!! Awful people taking advantage of low cost travellers in a somewhat remote location where new arrivals feel isolated. Again DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE or give them your business! Judging by the small number of reviews on the sites for this place I am sure they close the listing and relist to avoid the negative conments and ratings too. BEWARE!!! I am sure some bad karma is coming their way eventually!

It's my fault, I know, because I'm not a functional illiterate and I read everything before booking. By following the link from T.A. you migrate to the Agoda site. In fact, the general description of the structure says nothing but, going to the detailed description of the room, an infinite series of services appears: restaurant, bar, pool bar, 24-hour front desk and much more. I am severely disabled and have limited motor skills and this resort, at least on paper, was the right one for me: without architectural barriers, spacious, quiet, with a beautiful garden, spacious rooms, swimming pool, bar, restaurant and room service. So I booked 12 nights with the intention of not moving from there, not even going to the beach because it's far away, sprawled out by the pool enjoying the excellent Vietnamese food. Furthermore, the front desk was open 24 hours a day with English speaking staff, giving me extra security for my health issues. It's a shame that things were different upon arrival: without a doubt the resort is very beautiful in its minimalism and the rooms are immense, but the reception is abandoned and, despite the opening hours being displayed from 7.00 to 22.00, there is never anyone here. The only "contact person" is the elderly caretaker who only speaks Vietnamese so strictly that not even Google translate understands it. It was the caretaker who assigned me the room but the air conditioning was broken and he couldn't do anything. I tried calling the number listed on Agoda all day but no one ever answered. Not bad, I'll eat something at the restaurant while waiting for the receptionist to change my room and, above all, change some currency because I didn't have any Dong and here, 5 km from the town, there are no exchange offices. Surprise! The restaurant isn't there! Not even the bar. The caretaker offered me a bottle of water, apologizing and continuing to look for someone on the phone. At dawn at 9.00 pm he finally found the receptionist (via telephone) who authorized the room change. I had been waiting since 1pm. I asked to have someone come here at least to change some money so I could eat: the receptionist arrived at 9.30pm, I listed all my problems in English to discover that here, no one speaks English, even if written on the description! So she called someone else on the phone who, in very broken English, told me that there are no services of any kind here. Meanwhile, at 9.58pm I managed to get €50 changed, I walked almost a kilometer (suffering like a dog) in search of food but everything here closes at 10pm. Moral: 26 hours without food with half a bottle of water. The next day I go back to the reception hoping to find someone but nothing to do. I write messages to the facility via Agoda (I had already written many the day before) but apparently no one reads them. Finally the caretaker finds the receptionist and has her come to the hotel, I go to her to kindly explain my reasons and she looks at me silently with a bewildered expression. Who knows

Overrated. Hotel isn't maintained well. Rooms are not clean. Terrible breakfast.

Location is good. Close to the beach. Quite road. 10 mins to restaurants and shops
