Reviews
The people, the place and the vibe really are amazing. One of the best hostels I've ever stayed at, felt right at home 💛
The dinner is super tasty, the rooms very clean and the bar area was so much fun (but not in a loud way you sometimes have at hostels). Also: I loved all the artwork and decorations!
I'm definitely coming back 😊
I stayed just one night at Tirana Backpacker Hostel, but it was the perfect stop. The location is excellent — right in the heart of the city and walking distance from all the main sights, cafes, and restaurants. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with tips or just chat.
The hostel has a chill, social vibe that makes it easy to meet other travelers. Everything was clean and well-organized, and the garden area is a real bonus to relax after a day exploring Tirana.
Whether you're in town for a night or a few days, it’s a solid choice. I’d happily stay again!
We mostly enjoyed our stay until the final morning. Unfortunately, we overslept and were 30 minutes late to check out of our room. At no point that morning were we reminded of checkout time—only to be abruptly woken by an irate cleaner. Instead of handling the situation calmly, the cleaner berated and pressured one of the reception staff until he issued each of us a fine of 500 Lek. The fine was obviously made up and something we definitely did not agree to while checking in.
Later, when we returned to retrieve an item a friend had accidentally left behind, we were met with a surprisingly hostile attitude from different staff members. They aggressively questioned us on unrelated matters and implied they would not return the item unless we complied, which felt entirely inappropriate and petty.
On top of this, we viewed reception staff letting people in without reservations or proof of stay. I even had to send someone away who wasn’t staying at the hostel who was repeatedly buzzing the door for reception late at night.
Overall, the hostel failed to provide the basic level of hospitality and professionalism you’d expect. I would not recommend it unless your idea of a good time includes unwelcoming vibes and pretentious staff.

The room was clean, the towels were clean but the problem with the AC made it really difficult to be able to sleep at all, having to wake up to turn off/on the AC every few hours during the night...
Location is good, quite central but nothing special.
Breakfast was decent, nothing special, not a huge range of options though.
The hotel's maintenance is quite low, we took the family room on the upper floor.
The tub was leaking making the floor wet, and the water system in the sink would not go down while the tap was running, looks like the water system is very old and needs some fixing.
Other than that the room was very basic maybe a bit overpriced (90€ a night)
Breakfast was basic as well but sufficient.
