Hotel Sunshine in Ksamil

SUNSHINE HOTEL- KSAMIL - JUNE

Pros:
- Cristina is very friendly and Armando is too.
- Armando helped us straight away when the balcony door handle came off
- Pool is nice for a lounge around day and a cool off from the heat
- Pool is open late until 10 or 11pm which is nice
- Area around the pool is exceptionally clean and the hanging egg chairs are comfy and brings a nice ambionic setting to the poolside
- Nice foyer part outside quaintly lit at nights
- Great location. About 10 minutes walk downhill to the beach.
- Great views across Ksamil, however hard to see the sea unless your a bit higher. (We were first floor)
- Quiet area, giving you an authentic feel for Albania as many locals live around the hotel area
- 2 handy shops close by
- 2 free drinks for the road on way home, which was nice
- Music on and nice calm vibe around the pool area during the day
- Shower was excellent

Cons:
- Bathroom not fully cleaned when we arrived
- No lift, if your're on the 4th floor good luck with your baggage
- Breakfast was not great
- If you arent mobile it can be difficult to get back up the hill after walking into Ksamil (not a hotel fault)
- Sink blocked and ants all over the room floor
- Balcony door handle broke and tear in the balcony gauze (insect protection yolk)
- AC box needs a refurbish, very noisy
- This was the biggest problem, we ordered food off the menu. We thought we would eat at the hotel that day to try it. We waited at least 45 minutes for our food (a wrap and baked potato). Only to be greeted by a delivery driver with the food in a take away carton! Order was also wrong. If this is the way they do the food would've been nice for a heads up that this was the case, we wasted almost an hour waiting and missing out on Ksamil. It was also nearly 18 euro (1800 AL).
- The menu prices are extortionate for being guests. Not much selection or your're not made aware of snack options. Also it was €4 (400 Lekk) for a Corona, when its around €1-1.50 euro in the nearby shops.
- Felt more like a guest house than a hotel
- Bed was very uncomfortable, back sore every morning
- No clear signage on arrival where to actually check in. No real greeting and welcome to the hotel

Room to improve:
- Professionalism
- Felt like an estranged guest in someone elses house. The staff sit with friends and family and dont cater to guests fully
- Maintenance (im sure most of it is underway as it is up and coming, not fully completed yet). But just a few wires exposed and wardrobe not fully attached to wall. Nearly fell on us!
- The goodbye was quiet cold, (Cristina and Armando did say bye but when the taxi arrived we just walked out past them) again while sitting chatting with friends and family, not seeing guests out and making sure they were satisfied
- Some wee hotel traditional nights, like putting on entertainment would be great

Now saying all of this, its so the guys can hopefully take this on board and improve. Overall its an up and coming hotel with great potential.

The hotel is new and so clean. Breakfast is really good and you can choose from many things. Parking is next to the hotel. Internet is working well.
