The stay at the hotel was amazing, we combined skiing and relaxation in the beautiful saunas and outdoor pool. The food was also great

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Schutterhoff for a week skiing in early February. Our early evening reception was dealt with by the friendly reception staff, quickly and efficiently. Our request to hire skis and equipment/ski passes was all taken care of immidiately allowing us to start skiing the next day without delay. We were also given an in depth explanation of all the hotels facilities. Ski equipment can be stored in the corresponding room locker in the ski/boot/equipment room on the ground floor. Secured by your room key. This is a ski in/ski out hotel offering two pistes to ski to the first lift. The immediate piste is a red and may be difficult for inexperienced skiers but a blue can be found at the back of the hotel. Our room on the top floor was very clean and well serviced. Being at the rear of the hotel this also meant it was very quiet. The housekeeping team are very enthusiastic, servicing the room whilst we were at breakfast. This can be slightly annoying if when you return from breakfast you want to change for skiing and room is still being serviced. We decided to leave the snooze label on the door handle whilst at breakfast. The hotels restaurant is designed around the Panorama Bar. There are several areas that are utilised to sit guests. Tables are allocated to guests for the week. If you would like to be able to take advantage of the panorama views then a table at the front of the hotel would be favourable. The tables in the areas to the rear of the hotel are slightly quieter and more intimate. The kitchen prepare a buffet meal on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Other than that a choice of evening meal is made at breakfast, (starter & mains). Guests may also attend the buffet to select salads/soups and deserts at dinner. The buffet is considerable and very well presented. The hotel is frequented by mainly German and Austrian guests. There weren’t very many English speaking guests at the time we visited. This is not a problem to the staff. All the staff we came into contact with spoke English very well, although we persistently had to remind them we were English speaking. I believe that small changes to the room administration would enhance the guest experience…. 1. Water supplied each night in the rooms, (We took a carafe of water to the room each night from dinner). Water could be supplied at room servicing. 2. Better toiletries supplied in the en-suites. 3. For a hotel of this quality the towels need to be larger and more luxurious. These are very small details to mention but very noticeable to guests. We didn’t experience the spa facilities due to skiing early each day and remaining on the piste until lift closures each day. Unfortunately this also prevented us from experiencing the afternoon buffet which was closed at 430pm each day. I am lead to believe that the afternoon buffet is very good, offering pizzas and other substantial selections. A lovely, well run, family hotel that I would very much like to revisit.

What a fabulous hotel. Our room was on the 3rd floor, room 322. We had asked for a quiet room and this was perfect although to be honest the whole hotel was not at all noisy, everyone very respectful. The room was lovely, clean, and the views were breathtaking from every window you looked out of, every morning to wake up to the beautiful views, you could not get enough of it. Lots of storage in the room with a small fridge and a huge flat screen TV which we did not need to use. We found the bed a little on the firm side so on our first morning we asked one of the cleaners if they had a topper pad, this was put on immediately and made the bed perfect for us. The cleaners where like Ninjas, by the time we returned from breakfast the room was tidied and immaculate. Separate toilet to the bathroom. We had requested a shower only as I believe some rooms have baths. The food was excellent, our only complaint was that it was too good and we couldn’t eat everything on offer, the buffet at lunch time was on from 1.30-5 and changed everyday offering pizzas one day to sausage and pretzel the next, salads and hot soups. After our large breakfast and the lovely evening meal to come we had to abstain from this…..well maybe a small piece of cake and a coffee (you could get coffee including cappuccinos and macchiatos from the machine in the buffet area free all day until 5pm). Each evening there was a complimentary carafe of good quality Austrian drinking water on the table, so many hotels and restaurants in Germany and Austria seam not to understand what “tap water” is and always bring an expensive bottle of water to the table, so this was such a welcome change and better for the environment. The drinks prices were very good both for the bar and the wine, and the attention to detail and enthusiasm by the bar staff when making each and every drink was a pleasure to watch. We had booked a weeks ski package for the over 60 which was great value and I believe they do this before Christmas and sometime in March also. They also included a free pick up from the train station and arranged for the local ski rental to pick us up from the hotel and take us to their shop where we could rent skis, and then brought us back again. At the end of the stay you just leave the skiis in your locker and the company will collect, everything charged through the hotel. They also offered a 10% discount. The clientele was all German and Austrian as far as we could tell, we were the only Brits but all the staff could speak perfect English and the menu for our table was in English also. The staff were fabulous, every single one of them, they really did make us feel so welcome and at home, always with a smile on their faces and would spend a few moments to chat to us, very friendly and professional. It was really nice also that the owners took the time, on certain days, to go to each of the tables in the evening to chat with their customers, that really is a nice touch and doe

My two weeks at Hotel Schutterhof was splendid. The staff were very helpful, friendly and professional. Went on some of the guided hikes and all their guides were friendly, patient and informative. The breakfast and lunch buffets are scrumptious and lots of choices. The 3 course dinner each evening is delicious and high quality. You won’t go hungry staying here. It is the most relaxing part of my 5 week holiday in Europe. I will definitely stay at the hotel again when I return to Schladming which is a beautiful town with amazing scenery,

A beautifully located hotel with lots of offerings, most of which we didn't need and use but paid for because there was no choice. Our room (junior suite) had a great view, was spacious and clean, but much too warm with no possibility to cool it down except sleeping with open balcony door.

Stay with family for 4 nights, everything was amazing, especially food, SPA and location directly on ski slope. Hope we can get back soon!
