Great week skiing as a couple in our early 20s. We chose this hotel as we had stayed in Bansko Hotel Lion and loved it so wanted to try here. Large and warm room on top floor. Food was excellent throughout our stay, so many options to choose from. Pancakes at breakfast were . Plenty of tea , coffee and juices as-well. Staff were all nice and friendly, specially the bus drivers and waitresses at dinner. Quiet and peaceful at night (needed after a full day of skiing). We personally didn’t use spa or pool but heard good things about it. Gym was small but useful on bad weather days which we only had once. Overall a great hotel, would highly recommend.

We enjoyed a great week in Borovets as a family of 3. The Lion Hotel is approx 15-20 mins easy walk from the main Gondola. We mainly used the shuttle bus to get to the resort centre, but there is no queue system (saw an adult male pushing women and children out of the way in an attempt to get on the bus (on this occasion the driver had a word and he had to wait for the next one). People storing ski/snowboard equipment at the hotel had a bit of a problem, as even if first there, by the time they had secured skis in rack at back of bus, they then couldn’t fit onto bus as everyone else had jumped in. At peak time they often had 2 shuttle buses running, so not a long wait for next one. Food at the hotel was good. There was always something tasty at the buffet and we ate well all week. Drinks were good in the dining hall with wine, beer, juices, coffee and tea all available as part of half board package. The hotel was full so the restaurant got busy, but food was plentiful. Rooms are pretty basic and very warm. We had a very wet day on the first day and all ski wear was soaked, only one towel rail and one radiator, so difficult to get all our clothes/boots dry for next day. We often slept with our window open as needed to dry clothes but rooms were hot. Corridors were noisy at night, more an issue with the guests than the hotel. A lot of guests did not abide by the quiet rule between 2200 and 0800. Every night there were kids (probably one particular family) running up and down the corridor shouting and screaming. The sound echoed and traveled a lot. Due to noisy nights the hotel wasn’t quite as peaceful as we were hoping, but we still had a great time. The pool, outside jacuzzi, sauna etc. were pleasant to use especially if you can use during the day when other guests are skiing.

This was our third time in Borovets and I couldn’t recommend the Lion hotel enough- despite being a 4*, it was better than the 5* hotels we’ve stayed in. Our room was modern, spacious and comfortable, the meals fantastic and the spa was the best I’ve EVER been to. My son had an absolute blast too. Whilst it’s not in town, you don’t feel far away and can walk in. The minibus shuttle was regular during the day and very easy. A real gem and great value for money!

Stayed for a week, Feb 2026 half term. Really nice hotel. We had a family room on the 4th floor, biggest hotel room i've had on a winter holiday. Set in a woodland surrounding about 20 min walk from the main action and slopes, but they run a free bus from 830 to 530. Taxi about 6 euro so i was told. You could not walk in ski boots, not unless you have a death wish! Its a quiet retreat away from the noise of the main area so I suppose it depends what type of holiday you want. There's nothing around the hotel shop wise so get what you need in town. Staff are fine, not rude, just a different culture. Food great and lots of it. Free beer, wine, coffee, tea and soft drinks with meals. Bar prices are good. 3 EURO for a beer at the hotel. Bar area is cosy with a nice open fire. Minibar in the room has a few bits but it's chargeable. Spa and pool are nice. Sauna, steam, relaxation room, outdoor hot tub, outdoor sauna. Gym is useless, can't even call it a gym. Its the only thing that let's the hotel down. Massages are a reasonable price too compared to home prices, and the lady is a lot stronger than she looks ! Hire robes from reception 6 euro for your stay. Pool towels are free just by entrance to pool area. Ski storage room at front of hotel but no boot warmers. I'd definitely recommend and go back to this hotel. As for the resort, skiing is ok. Beginners slopes from the top of the 6 person back to the main area by the Rila are rammed with lessons, but it was half term so... Gondola side was good but hit and miss on the weather effecting the Gondola being open. If there's a massive queue for the Gondola then there's a silver minibus stop on the main road by the Gondola entrance which will take you to a 4 person chair with no queues and get you on the same mountain. Beautiful tree lined runs everywhere. Not many places to eat and use toilets on the mountain. Good job there's lots of trees. Snowpark was a bit rubbish. One run, 2 jumps, 2 boxes. Lots of places to eat and drink in the main area. Prices in resort reasonable compared to France etc. If you want to be in the thick of it 24/7 then stay at the Rila, but if you want to party then chill then this is a good choice. Id say this is a family hotel, not groups of party animals. Im sad to be leaving.

Travelled start of February for ski trip with my boyfriend. The mini bus transport to Borovets ski resort was amazing, it came very regularly and we have no complaints with that- it was amazing. It was also a nice, peaceful walk to the actual resort, it took about 15 minutes and was really beautiful. The food from the restaurant was one of the best foods from a hotel we’ve ever had- we ate better here than we usually do at home! Great selection for all taste buds, and the food from the bar was also very good. Drinks from the bar were good too, fast service and reasonably priced. Our room was on the third floor, which was quite a noisy floor. We had a lot of children next door to our room that were running up and down the corridor all hours of the night, screaming and crying, but other than that it was fairly quiet. our room was spacious and the beds were comfy. It came equipped with a hairdryer which was a bonus. The only complaint I have is the reception staff were quite rude at times and when we came to check out, the receptionist couldn’t check us out meaning we nearly missed our transfer back to the airport and she couldn’t have cared less that we nearly missed it. Overall though it was a great stay, and we would definitely return back.

Great hotel, clean and tidy. Comfy rooms. Buffet was really good for breakfast and evening meal. à la cart menu was good and food was equally as good. Some staff on reception were a little rude or useless but other than that no complaints, bar staff and restaurant were good.

My fourth time to this hotel . You can’t fault it . Great food , huge variety , complimentary drinks throughout the evening Meal . The facility’s have improved with a large outside jacuzzi and Finnish sauna , complementing the pool , steam room and well being areas . A regular bus back and for to the slopes , which is also a pleasant walk . The ski ing area cater s for all . At a fraction of the cost of French resorts . Your euro goes a long way in Borovets . Snow is snow

Great location away from the bustle of the main resort. The room was a decent size and the bathroom was clean and modern. Shower pressure was great and a bath is a handy addition for apres ski muscle soaks. My only slight criticism is that there's no tea/coffee making facilities available in the room, combined that with warnings that the tap water may not be safe to drink, made it difficult to stay hydrated after a day's skiing without going to the bar. We did however buy a large 5L bottle of water from the local Aldo which only cost 3 Euros. The spa facilities are great (highly recommend the outdoor sauna!) and there's a good spread of sauna and steam room options. We went half board and had no complaints at all with the food. Breakfast and dinner was always very varied and balanced. Half board at other places tends to be a bit 'beige' but I found there were great veg, carb and protein options. I probably ate more healthily than I usually do at home! The bar area with the fire is very chilled out and a nice spot to spend a few hours with a drink if you don't fancy the noisier apres options in town. Huge thanks to the barman Dimeter for making some the best hot toddies I've had outside of the Highlands of Scotland. I think that makes him an honorary Scot! With apologies if I've spelled his name wrong. These really helped wife and her developing cold. 😊 The transport into town is very good and we had no issues getting in with our ski gear. The hotel has plenty of storage for ski/snowboard gear and I didn't feel that we needed to use the lockers in the centre of Borovets. The bus drops you less than a few minutes from the lifts so it's an easy walk.

Great location, large rooms, comfortable beds, good shower. The hotel is in the middle of the forest about a fifteen minute walk from Borovets centre. The hotel provides a shuttle bus to and from the centre which runs every ten minutes but we preferred to shuttle bus to the slopes and walk back to the hotel. We stayed full board for a week in January. Food: Breakfast: Hot and cold options including bacon, sausage etc and a good selection of fruits and yoghurt. inner: The buffet menu changed each night. It was meat heavy with normally two or three meat options per night and one fish option. Although nice, we found the food a little bland at times. Soups, pasta and salads were also available each night. The salad options were very good. Local wine and beer were included with the meal. Bedroom: Spacious and comfortable. with enough room for storage. Good water pressure. No safe in room. Not enough English TV channels! Facilities: Swimming pool, sauna and outdoor jacuzzi were well maintained. Didn't use the gym. NO ski lockers!! This was a disappointment! We didn't leave our equipment in the boot room as it was never locked. We kept our gear in town. Staff: Very friendly and helpful Overall: A nice hotel in a great location. Worth checking out if you want to stay away from the town centre.

Great Value hotel. Not in the centre of Borovets but 4-5 minutes hotel bus or 15 minutes walk. Lobby and bar very nice and recently modernised. Very clean hotel and very warm. Bedrooms are basic but clean and warm no big deal as it’s a ski hotel and we spend very little time in there. I’d guess about 70 rooms so relatively cosy. All the staff were very pleasant when I was there. You generally get a half board deal there which included beer and wine at dinner. Food was honestly very good and I’m pretty fussy about my food. We were there over new year and the New Year’s party was excellent. Lots of lovely food and various singers, DJ, traditional Bulgarian dancing and more. The new year celebrations exceeded expectations. We were in a large group and the staff were very accommodating. The Spa had a swimming pool, sauna, steam rooms and more. Very nice indeed. For the money it’s excellent. Our trip was with Crystal Ski (TUI owned) and everything went to plan.
