The Stay Hotel in Plovdiv

Stayed at Stay Hotel Plovdiv for 3 nights, costing just over £150 in total, which felt like decent value for the location. Without a doubt, the best thing about this hotel is where it’s situated – perfectly central, with plenty of shops, restaurants and bars all within a 5-minute walk. The reception staff were also a real positive. They always greeted you warmly when coming and going, and were especially helpful on my last day by arranging a taxi for me, even though I had returned hours after checking out. The room itself was acceptable but a little tired. It was nicely decorated, but you could see signs of wear and tear such as marks on the walls and general signs of age. It was also on the smaller side, although this was expected based on the photos on the booking site. The free Wi-Fi was excellent throughout the stay – strong and reliable with no issues. Unfortunately, that’s where any positives end. When I arrived (3rd floor room), I checked in early as reception said my room was ready. I got to the floor and all room doors were wide open, with the bathroom doors open too, but didn’t think anything of it at the time. However, I later realised they were airing the rooms out because of the strong sewage smell coming from the bathroom drains. This was extremely unpleasant and clearly an ongoing issue, as it’s mentioned in other reviews. The shower also caused the bathroom floor to flood due to a missing or ineffective seal under the glass screen, meaning water spread everywhere after each use. Housekeeping was lacklustre too. After leaving the sign requesting the room be cleaned, only the towels were changed and the bin emptied. The bed wasn’t made at all, the flooded bathroom floor wasn’t cleaned, and nothing was done to address the drain smell. After that, it felt easier just to request fresh towels and toilet roll when needed rather than ask for cleaning again. Overall, this hotel has an unbeatable central location and friendly staff, but the maintenance issues and poor housekeeping let it down badly. No way could I recommend this hotel, and I have in fact told many friends and family to avoid it.

Horrendeus downright the worst experience ive ever had. Dirty rooms with bugs around aswell as the fact the layout of the bathroom is a complete joke. one morning a worker just straight up unlocks my door and only realizes after im litteraly in there and then leaves complete stupidity worst hotel experience of my life
