Wonderful hotel that is an historic building. We have stayed in the Poppy Room and we recently stayed in the Newark room. Both are cozy premium rooms. The Newark room is not in complete darkness at night. There is some light that comes through the curtains which helps if you need to find your way in the dark. The furniture is vintage, which suits the hotel's historic charm. The Charles is different from most modern hotels, but that is what makes it so unique. It is most ideal for couples. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location is amazing, it has great views, is on the main street and is within walking distance from many shops and pubs. We will definitely stay again !!

Hotel is positioned well to be relatively quiet from road noise, but close enough to NOTL shops, cafes, restaurants, etc.

It has an older, colonial style look with plenty of verandas and balconies. But modern where it counted (heating, A/C, internet etc.). Breakfasts were very good, as was the one hotel dinner I had. Cozy hotel bar as well. I'd definitely go back.

My only complaint was no hot water at the sink. It was too late at night for me to go to the front desk. I was reluctant to use the shower for that reason. Otherwise I like staying there when I go to the Shaw Festival.

Fungi pizza was INCREDIBLE!! Pasta is fresh and made daily. Note that it opens for dinner at 5 (closed from 3-5). Annalie provided great service. A strong recommendation to anyone in the area! Nice ambiance on the terrace outside.

Stale rubbery Shnitzel!!! When I told them that it was tasting bad the server told me that anything else I order would take 30 min! And we were the only ones in the restaurant

Food was very good though I found a little pricy considering the portion size. The wait staff were awesome! They were able to accommodate a group of 7 on the patio very quickly even with our time limitations. We left happy and well fed :)

Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Close walk from a couple hotels right off the HWY. The food was good and the staff was as well. The layout of this Starbucks is different than most I have seen and would be crowded if it was busy.

a little pricey for what you get. The building is interesting, wouldn't recommend going in the winter because they have the main floor lined with patio doors that open in the summer which let the cold in more than windows/walls would. Could see it being very nice in the summer

Great atmosphere, Nice setting. Food is Ok, yet nothing special... Chicken breast tastes like it's just warmed up, not cooked for you... Also beware or these becoming annoing "sweet" sauses in your salad, - better ask in advance the ingredients in details, or simply have it on a side -to be able to change to your liking (-like why-oh-my a good old olive oil with balsamic vinegar and a Greek spice not being popular instead ?! -))... So, considering the quality, such salad feels just a tiny bit overpriced ($18-20:). Good Service though.

Quite possibly the worst meal I've had all year....and I've had some bad meals. Key snacks to avoid - anything with a baguette. The roast beef came with a dip - scary cold and very oily. The place is cool but the staff and food need improvement. It would be neat if they had change tables for infants too (c'mon guys they're like $400).

A beautiful interior with gorgeous flower decorations outside in the summer make this an instant draw in the scenic Niagara on the Lake. But the menu lacks creativity and the prices are outrageous for the small amount of bland food you get. A quick look at the lunch menu will convince you that it's not even on par with pub fare. I'm certainly not going back!
