Lelux Hotel in Montreal

Lobby is nice but thats it… beautiful view of an abandoned building.. breakfast is basic, bathrooms give off bates motel vibes with black mould on the ceiling, no batteries for the tv remote had to buy our own, fridge doesnt keep food cold, the building is a solid +27 with no way to cool it down as theres no windows to open or ac if your going to go to the gym dont theres 5 machines and the weights are strewn everywhere. Do better.

Beatdown hotel downtown that looks like crap, smells like crap and feels like crap. This is the cheapest hotel you'll find in the city, and they manage to overcharge for their inexistant service. Rooms are ok if you can find one with a decent mattress cause a lot of them need to be replaced. They seem to aim just a little above the quality/safety you'd expect of an abandoned building and they barely make it...

The service is horrible, at best. All the employees speak arabic and they all discuss together while they work so you can always wonder if they are talking about you. I suppose nobody told them how impolite it was, or more likely they just don't care. I guess that also explains their rudeness and how they look down on most clients. The front desk staff is so arrogant that someone might want to remind them they aren't at the Ritz-Carlton, even if their name tries to fool you about your experience.

My friends and I both had our room, amd each provided a credit card for them to hold a pre-authorization for the stay. They held 250$ per room even though the rate for the room had been prepaid when booking, which is in itself ludicrous. My friend and I were scammed out of our security deposit. They kept the whole collateral of my friend because of what is nothing more than wear and tear on the room equipment. They justify keeping mine for a reason that's basically thievery. Avoid this place, almost any other option is better.

Although the room was nice and clean, the hotel seems to be in less than working condition. The elevator is old and creaky, and only works when the buttons are hit at a specific time. The shower in my room had to run for 15 minutes just to get slightly warm. And the telephone in my room didn’t work at all despite being connected to the phone jack. I had to walk down to the front desk 3 times for 3 different issues because the phone couldn’t call down to the front desk. And on my way out, after we had paid for breakfast, I was told not to take food out of the eating area, so I couldn’t even grab a bite to take with me. I know this was a hotel on the cheaper side, but for $140 I was expecting more. Even hostels have running hot water and you can take food to go! It’s very sad when a hostel is a better experience than a hotel. I will never be coming back, this was a terrible experience.

Clean, and convenient, good value for the price. Paid 72$ x 2 nights.
BUT
there were a handful of downsides that made the experience a little rough.
Firstly, the beds are stiff and desperately need replacing.
My partner and I left with back and hip pain, which shouldn’t be the case as we’re still young.

The thermostat didn’t work and we stayed during the coldest weekend of the year. We were freezing to say the least.

Lastly the elevator is known to be quite rickety and unreliable.

All that to say the staff were helpful, friendly and welcoming. Would definitely return if beds were comfier.
