I had a great experience in staying at Hotel Chrome. Room was clean. Next room had their TV on 24/7 that was annoying at some point.
Suggestion hotel should provide kettle in each room as their were no water filters.
Overall stay was good and recommended.

Dirty, and the service was terrible.

Avoid this place, everyone.

Good location doesn't make up for it.

The room wasn't assigned away from the elevator as requested, but everything else was fine.

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at this hotel. While waiting in the lobby to check in, I witnessed guests speaking with the receptionist about a serious issue. Shortly after, the guest showed me a video and clearly said in English that the problem was bed bugs.
The video showed an alarming number of bed bugs, and the guest had visible bites all over her body. It was disturbing and completely unacceptable. After seeing that, I immediately checked Google reviews and found multiple recent complaints about bed bugs at this property.
We actually stayed here years ago when the hotel had flooding issues, but we never expected the conditions to decline this badly. Cleanliness and guest safety should be the bare minimum, and this clearly is not being managed properly.
Because of this situation, we did not feel safe staying and had to book another hotel at our own expense. I have been trying to get a refund, but so far have had no success.
I would strongly advise others to do their research before booking here. Or you won't get your money back!

Quite small room but comfortable bed. Great location. About 15 min walk to downtown.

To be fair, we had a reasonable understanding of what we were booking. The property does not advertise itself as a luxury hotel, which is completely fine. However, we did not expect the overall experience to fall this far below basic standards.

We needed a last minute place to stay and this property appeared as an option. At check in, the agent requested a credit card and placed a hold without explaining what it was for beforehand. The room had already been prepaid, so it was clearly for a security deposit, which is standard practice in most hotels. What stood out was the amount. A $200 hold for a one night stay seemed excessive (for a hotel of this rating), especially considering the room amenities do not exist. There is no minibar and there were no toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, or body wash. The only product provided was a hand soap dispenser.

The location is downtown, which is convenient and keeps you close to many places, but that is unfortunately where most of the positives end.

The phone in the room did not work at all. This is particularly concerning because a working phone can be important in case of an emergency if a guest needs to contact the front desk or call for help and does not have access to their cell phone. This feels like a basic safety issue that should not be overlooked.

There is also no parking available on site, so we had to find parking in a nearby garage that felt quite sketchy, especially later at night.

Cleanliness was another concern. The bed skirt appeared normal at first, but when we looked underneath it, it was visibly stained. In the bathroom there was also a clear ring of dirt and buildup around the shower drain, which suggests the area has not been properly cleaned in some time.

Another issue was the lack of fresh air. The windows do not open at all. I understand that many hotels have safety features that limit how far windows can open, but there was not even a small opening available for ventilation. The room had a noticeably stuffy smell, so having the ability to let in some fresh air would have made a significant difference.

Reading through other reviews, it is honestly concerning to see how many guests have raised similar concerns or EVEN MORE CONCERNING ISSUES with 0 response. It gives the impression that the property is not receiving the attention it needs from ownership. Even if large renovations are not currently in the budget, there are still small but important steps that could significantly improve the guest experience. Ensuring proper cleanliness, making sure in room phones are functional, and training front desk agents to clearly explain credit card holds and deposit amounts during check in are all basic service standards.

Our expectations were not particularly high, but we still expected a baseline level of cleanliness, transparency, and functionality. If you are simply looking for somewhere to sleep briefly and leave early the next morning, it may serve that purpose. However, this is not somewhere I would recommend for families or for anyone hoping for a comfortable or relaxing stay.

The price here is very good, but the house is not soundproof. You can hear the sound of the party next door at night, and there are people smoking in the room, which can be smelled in the corridor. The good thing is that the price is relatively good, but the deposit is too high.

Great location, close to 2 subway stations, not far from downtown area either. It has 24 hrs concierge, basic service with vending machines for drinks and snacks near the front desk. The room is spacious, with a fair size TV, adequate lighting, large closet space. Linens, water pressure are great, towels are clean and face towels and kleenex boxes are supplied (a bonus as most hotels have only hand towels, too big for women to remove makeup...) elevators work well but overall the hotel can use a renovation, update faucets, toilet, amenities, walls...for the price it is fair. I stayed a few nights, it is convenient to walk about. The nearby subways are great. The area is safe and St Catherine nearby is vibrant at night, it can be a great spot with an update/reno.

If this room were a person, it would have been evicted long ago for complete lack of hygiene. The smell is like wet socks have been stored here for years, the carpet is sticky and clearly remembers better days sometime in the last century. The bed linen gives the strong impression that someone has already lived through several life crises on it, and the pillows are nothing more than bags of disappointment. In the bathroom, mold feels right at home, the water has a mind of its own, and the shower curtain looks like it survived the apocalypse. There is absolutely no soundproofing — you don’t just hear your neighbors, you unwillingly become part of their lives. The photos on the website are pure fiction; the room in reality is straight-up horror. The only positive is that it strongly motivates you to leave as quickly as possible and rethink your life choices.
