Eastern Cloud Hotel in Hangzhou

We chose this hotel for a trip to the Jiuxi Scenic Area. Four of us stayed in rooms 305 and 307. That night, two people in room 305 felt a slight itch before bed, but they didn't take it seriously. In the middle of the night, the itching became so severe that we couldn't sleep. We looked and saw red spots all over our arms and legs, which looked like insect bites. We reported this to the front desk that morning, and the hotel manager gave us four bottles of ointment, which provided some relief. After returning to Shanghai that day, the itching worsened during the night. The next day, we went to the hospital, and the doctor diagnosed it with mite bites. We contacted the hotel, but they denied the allegations, claiming they were insect bites from our trip. There were four of us together, and the two people in room 307 were fine, while the two people in room 305 had them. How could they explain this? After repeated unsuccessful attempts to contact them, Ctrip mediated a partial refund for room 305, but they refused to cover the medical expenses.

The room had an old fabric sofa, and the proximity to the scenic area made it damp and prone to mites. The bites likely came from sitting on the sofa, as there were very few red spots.

I'll pay more attention to hygiene and safety when choosing a hotel in the future.
