Multiple guests praised the beautiful, well-maintained grounds with colorful flowers and clean, soft sandy beach. Some reviewers found the premium suites spacious, clean, and offering good pool views. Several guests highlighted the friendly and professional attitude of many staff members, especially in pool bars and some restaurants. The resort offers a large variety of restaurants including Indian and steakhouse options that received positive remarks. Free water activities like snorkeling, kayaking, and tennis courts were appreciated by guests. Many reviews mention slow and disorganized check-in processes, sometimes taking over an hour. Numerous guests reported issues with room cleanliness, damp smells, and maintenance problems like malfunctioning showers and insect presence. Buffet food quality and variety were often described as poor, greasy, or served cold, with long lines and understaffing. Complaints about unfriendly staff attitudes, especially in buffet areas and with shuttle drivers, were frequent. The large size of the resort was seen as overwhelming, with shuttle carts sometimes overcrowded or infrequent, causing inconvenience. A few reports noted security concerns related to incidents at the pool area. Some guests experienced problems booking a la carte restaurants and noted roach infestations in at least one restaurant. WiFi and parking received low satisfaction ratings.

Description

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro - All Inclusive is a large 5-star resort established in 1999 and renovated in 2012, situated on over 500,000 m² in Punta Cana. It features 24 three-story colonial-style villas housing 1286 rooms, including Superior Junior Suites, Premium Junior Suites, and 2 Bedroom Suites. The resort offers a private sandy beach just 50 meters away with complimentary umbrellas, loungers, and towels along its 500-meter stretch. Guests enjoy access to 3 lagoon-style outdoor pools, a paid indoor pool, and multiple bars and restaurants, including one buffet and six a la carte options with three included dinners during their stay. This family-friendly resort provides extensive kids’ facilities such as a kids’ club for ages 4 to 12, a children’s disco, mini golf, and a dedicated kids’ pool. A wide range of free water sports and activities, from snorkeling and kayaking to tennis and aerobics, complement the all-inclusive offering. The hotel’s expansive grounds and complex structure mean guests often use the shuttle carts to get around.

We loved our two-week stay at the hotel. All the staff were friendly. The negative reviews are unfounded and dishonest. I would return without hesitation, even though this is our fourth trip to the Dominican Re

Booked a premium package with West jet Vacations - nothing here was Premium. First time travelling to the Dominican- was not impressed with the reception staffat this resort; Arrived at 3pm but finally got to room tired , hungry and hot by 6pm. No one really in a hurry, everything is "just 20 minutes" few friendly waitstaff in the buffets and ala carte restaurants. They allow aggressive vendors on the property (not at the pool which was nice) but on the beach and one night couldn't leave lobby without being harassed. Very large resort- clean pools and rooms were pretty clean. Spa was nice too. Booked a bell cart in person for 8:45 am because shuttle for airport was coming at 9:30, Called belldesk at 9 wondering where he was at and they said they would sent right away At 9: 15 I chased a bell cart down and forced the driver to take are stuff. As I said, large resort so really could not drag luggage to front lobby on walk path. As a easy-going canadian traveller I am not hard to please and not picky. This resort has got some improving to do on guest services for people looking to relax. Will book Adults-only from now on

My husband and I stayed at the Bahia Punta Cana to attend my friend's wedding The good: The grounds are clean and beautiful. Trees and grass and flowers were colorful The beach was gorgeous with soft sand The food I the main buffet was really good. Variety and selection was plenty The Indian and steak restaurant was delicious The room was clean and spacious The wedding coordinator did a great job with my friend's wedding :Now the con For me this resort was just too overwhelming. It was too big. You will most likely need to use the complimentary transport service they offer at the resort. It is at least 1/4 mile from the main lobby to the beach. I prefer to be able to walk from my room to the restaurant or the gym or the beach. I do not want to wait in the hot sun for the carts that drive you around. Sometimes the carts are full and you have to wait for the next one. Usually around dinner time, you may need to wait for 2- 3 carts to pass before an empty will show up The front desk staff assigned me a room that was already taken. When the front desk resolved it, I was disappointed that a manager didn't come over to apologize for the mix up and time wasted. By the time we realized our room was already assigned, it was 30 minutes since our time of arrival. We had to go back to the front desk to get a room which took about another 15 minutes and still no manager to apologize. Miquel was only one that stood out because he assisted me with printing something for my friend's wedding Overall the staff was NOT rude. My husband and I had gone to another resort in Punta Cana many years ago and the staff was horrible. Just rude and did not want to assist when needed. Barely anyone spoke English except the salesman that wanted to sell me time share. Here, they were NOT rude but they did not exude warmth or a welcoming demeanor. I know it might be a language barrier but I was using Google translate to see if I would get good service. I would think your staff would appreciate my effort and laugh about it. They just kept a straight face. Knowing that they can receive tips, they would smile or try being a little more personable. But no. When we went to the main restaurant, nobody said "good morning" or "how is your day"? Waquel in your main restaurant was the ONLY staff that was personable and exuded a warmth demeanor. Majority of your drivers of the carts were not very friendly. They acted like they didn't want to be there. Just a simple smile and "good morning" will go a long way. Your security is less to be desired. I did not witness this incident but my friend's did. Apparently there was a guest at the pool by Flame that was drunk and started a fight where he swung at your lifeguard. This guest was approaching other guests trying to start a fight and your security did nothing. Your life guard was the ONLY person that physically stopped this drunken guest by holding him in a full Nelson. WHy did your security did NOTHING? This doesn't make me feel safe.

Check in was slow. If you walk up and and interrupt they seem to serve you first. Waiting in line does not get faster/better service. Beach was great till the seaweed came in but that is not the hotel's issue. They did clean it up. Very irritating that people save chairs at the crack of dawn making it next to impossible to get one. Resort should probably enforce the signage that says no reserving. The resort is dated and updating. They are renovating now. Not happy with how they deal with issues. We had 4 rooms and all of them had issues when we checked in. 2nd day at 10pm one of our rooms that had a family with a baby staying in it was full of exhaust fumes. We asked to be moved. First the said they were fully booked and would move them the next day. That was not acceptable so I asked for a manager. Finally after an hour of explaining that you can not sleep in room full of exhaust fumes if you would like to wake up in the morning, they Finally found a room and said it was being cleaned. 20-30 minute wait (that's at 11pm) At midnight the room still was not ready and the baby has been sleeping in his parents arms . 3 hours later at 1am they finally moved them to a new room. The new room had tons of ants. Thank God they were awake when the exhaust fumes started. Food and service at the a la carte is good. Buffet was OK but trying to get clean plates was difficult. Washing dishes is not their speciality. The resort is very big. They have carts but sometimes walking was faster. Entertainment was OK. I remember it being better in past. My advice would be stay at the Aquamarine or Ambar and learn Spanish, you get better service.

My fiance took our daughter and I to celebrate our birthdays at Bahia, we went back in July and had such an amazing time, we thought Bahia was going to be our new vacation spot and I must say it was the worse experience ever! 2 nights we were left waiting for water for over 3 hours we missed our meds, next night they never gave us any water, after begging and explaining we had to take our meds, there's roaches in the buffet and the lines are insane! False advertisement on their app, it showed 2 buffets but when we arrived one of the bufferts was being renovated so imagine the crowd, on the night of my birthday we booked the Japanese restaurant and upon arriving and waiting for the chef to complete the dinner, a roach either came from my plate or from the table but I noticed it, then my fiance looked around and there was roaches EVERYWHERE! when I told the waitress she replied, in Spanish (I'm fluent in Spanish) yes! "There's many but that's why tonight is the last night this restaurant will be open" which means they knew about the infestation but proceeded to feed guests from a place that had an infestation problem, so of course we were disgusted and refused to eat that food, unfortunately it was passed 10 pm and everything else was closed except by the beach but they only have fried food there and we couldn't eat fried food at that time so we were left hungry with nothing to eat because they don't offer room service neither, and it was my birthday so that ruined my night for sure! This is why Bahia left a disgusting taste, we will never return nor recommend, we complained and they gave us a very small room credit but nothing compares to missing medication and ruining someone's birthday!

Kuddos to Vladimir at the main Lobby. He was wonderful when we checked in. Richard and Felix, two of the lifeguards at the quieter pool, were very helpful in assisting us with a situation and we were very grateful. Overall, we really enjoyed the layout of the resort. Our premium suite was beautiful overlooking the pool! Staff were friendly and offered assistance when asked. We will definitely be back!

Beach: wonderful white sand and crystal-clear water Buffet: The quality and variety of food is hard to match anywhere else. Hotel : While the complex is huge the transportation is very efficient. Rooms: Make sure you pay a little extra and request an upgraded room. It's worth it !
