I appreciate the owner's quick reply to a former post. Out of courtesy I am revising it so as to not come off so reactive. My truth is that Hotel Alegria feels short-coming to what was advertised on Expedia. I paid a little extra for what was promoted as an ocean view room. The view is very limited and was not pictured in the promo. I will add it here. The mosquito screens to the balcony are faulty and unfortunately allowed them into our room at night. We had to resolve locally by purchasing spiral repellent candles. The overhead fan in the room creaks loudly if set anything above level two. The top bolt lock on our room door is also unusable. It was also very disappointing to find out after the fact that the jacuzzi was out of service when the marketing prides itself in the hotel being recently renovated. I will say that the hotel's front staff (local and long-standing) has been incredibly helpful, cheerful, and understanding. This was impressive and uplifting and should not go without praise. Beyond being in close proximity to the beach, and cozy bohemian in its aesthetic, the structural upkeep of our particular room in the face of the hotel's Expedia profile left a lot to be wanted for the price paid. Would we return? Maybe if the room's issues were resolved by management and certainly if we felt validated in our feedback and offered any reparation for this partially uncomfortable stay.
