Reviews
Pros:
The location was great. It was in the central part of the city.
The host was very helpful and advised us some good places to visit and eat.
Cons:
The building is over 100 years old and the hotel itself is located on the 2nd floor. There is no lift, and there was no staff available to help with luggage, so we had to carry all our bags up the stairs ourselves. There are also no clear signboards outside, so even locating the hotel entrance was confusing.
The room is listed as around 323 sq ft, but the actual usable floor space feels much smaller — the high ceiling makes the size seem larger in photos, while the room itself is very cramped. Noise from the lobby and corridor travels straight into the room, making it difficult to relax.
The bathroom layout is very impractical. The toilet is so close to the sink that it is uncomfortable to sit, and the sink is positioned right under the mirror so you keep bumping into it. The bathroom door is a thin folding plastic door that doesn’t close properly and opens directly toward one of the beds, which feels very awkward from a privacy perspective.
There is no dedicated breakfast area — breakfast is delivered to the room, but the bread we received was stale and not suitable to eat. This was the only hotel in Egypt where we experienced such poor breakfast quality.
The rooms also do not have usable balconies. Only one room in the entire property seem to have balconies, and one faces a backyard area that looks like a dumping zone — definitely not somewhere guests can sit and relax. (Photos attached)
Overall, the rooms feel tight, closed-in and poorly ventilated, and the facilities do not match the description or the price. I sincerely hope management improves the bathroom design, breakfast quality, signage, luggage support, and accuracy of room and balcony descriptions.
Only redeeming factors about this hotel are the location and price.
We spend two nights at Regency Inn and it was definitively a good choice.
Room was very spacious and spotless clean.
But what makes the difference is the staff. Basma and her colleagues were very attentive and professional, always willing to help us. Totally recommended.
1) Location. It is located near Tahrir Square, so most places of interest are nearby. However you might have some difficulties finding it. There would be no super-clear sign, you have to look at the signboard on top of building entrances. You may find place called "Felfela" easily (Btw it's a nice street food), hotel is on the left to it. In daytime there might be a shop on the first floor so watch out. Hotel is located on 3rd Egyptian floor (nearly same height as 5 EU) with no elevator.
2) Staff. Guys here are really nice. They are friendly, polite, their English level is good, so there should be no miscommunication.
3) Room. Room might not be that big in terms of square meter but height is about 4m so it looks quite big. Here would be almost everything you need: TV, fridge, aircon, shower, toilet, hair dryer. We were here in January 2022, it was a cold winter but aircon was saving us, cuz it can heat a room up to 26 degrees. We also found a warm blanket in the closet.
4) Service. Wi-Fi is good for surfing the web or chatting, but not good enough to have a Zoom meeting.
5) Food. Generally nice. Neither good, nor bad. You can always get coffee, omelet, some kind of bread, jam and butter. I will define it as a minimal breakfast and it is fine. Sometimes we got strawberries, banana and falafels. Wish we could have them constantly)
Minuses:
3) Room. Room was okay, but it had paint drops on the floor and the walls were shabby. Sadly it had no safe, but I was warned about that while booking the room. Most of the linen were disappointing. While towels had some dirty black spots on it, even after we asked to change the ones we got. Bedsheet had small hairs on it. The blanket we found was not clean as well, it had some dirty spots on it and was stinking a bit.
4) Service. Cleaning — they just took out the trash, re-layed the bed and took one of our dirty towels and putted it on the bed nice and neat, like it was a new one.
5) Food. Because of food variety instability you can't rely on it. You either get a "full" meal or you just get coffee, omelet and bread and won't fulfill your stamina.
The room was nice and matched the pictures. I will definitely recommend this little hotel to anyone looking for an affordable stay in the heart of El Cairo.
When you'll get to Cairo you'll understand that the average hotel is actually a good one. MAKE SURE YOU CAN BOOK A HOTEL IF YOU'RE A SINGLE LADY.
It's a hidden hotel just like all the average hotels in Cairo. Don't expect a perfect treatment unless you're in a 4 or 5 stars hotel.
The staff were nice and smiling and it felt homy.
The breakfast was nice and enough.
They didn't take into consideration that we weren't fasting during Ramadan but it was our last day so we didn't comment over that.
The rooms are nice and cosy and spacious but not perfectly cleaned. You have to ask for the cleaning of the toilets and the refilling of napkins and such details. They're not done otherwise.
Their prices are way better than other hotels with the same services.
So if you're there for few days I recommend it.
