MS Alexander the Great Nile Cruise in Luxor

Our experience on the Alexander the Great Nile cruise was truly exceptional. The service was outstanding from start to finish, with a friendly and attentive staff that made us feel welcome throughout the journey. The food selection was impressive—diverse, delicious, and beautifully presented at every meal.
The cabins were surprisingly large, very clean, and offered a cozy, relaxing atmosphere. We loved the cool towel arrangements left on the bed each day—such a charming touch! Evenings on board were just as special, especially the belly dancing show, which was both entertaining and professional.
Everything about this cruise felt well organized and high-quality. It quickly became one of the best experiences we had in Egypt. Highly, highly recommend!

Really excellent experience on this vessel. It was our first ever cruise and exceeded expectations. The cabin was very comfortable and larger than others we saw, the food was superb, the staff were friendly and attentive. We travelled with "Discover Egypt". We had two knowledgeable Egyptologist guides (Muhammed and Ahmed) between 15 passengers meaning our groups were smaller than most of the others we saw at the sites. The boat is smart/stylish rather than opulent (some others appear to be a bit much) and it is difficult to think how it could have been improved.

We did a 4 night trip from Luxor to Aswan over New Year 2025. The experience was fabulous.
The vessel is great and has real charm and character, but what made the trip so enjoyable were the crew. Every member of the crew was helpful, friendly, and seemed to genuinely enjoy interacting with the passengers. We have been lucky enough to stay in quite a few ‘fancy’ hotels but I would say that the service we experienced on Alexander the Great was the best we have enjoyed anywhere.
The food is absolutely first class and we had the best food of our trip on board. All meals were good, but lunch and evening meals exceptional. The dining experience manages to combine exceptional service with a relaxed and friendly experience, which is very hard to do this well.
The vessel also arranged a guide to take us round the key sites, as part of a group with other passengers. We were very fortunate that it was a small group of only 6 people and that we got on very well. The guide, Mohammed, was exceptional and his incredible depth of knowledge, good humour, and ability to explain a lot of information in a very engaging way was amazing. He was a real highlight of the trip for all of the people in our group and we would stay on Alexander the Great again just to have him as our guide.
The overall experience and genuine warmth of the crew were amazing and we will use the Alexander for another trip some time.
The vessel has attracted a long list of dignitaries and celebs over the years and having been lucky enough to stay on board we can see why. It isn’t a modern, flashy, ‘gold taps’ kind of experience but a classy, characterful, warm and enjoyable one and much the better for it.

To start with, do not look for luxury and pretentiousness, but for excellent service, rooms and food. They have plenty of them.
All the group enjoyed the 3 days we spent there, and I would really recommend the place for its comfort and reataurant. I'd certainly returns if possible. Special mention with honours to the Pastry Chef .

This cruise exceeded my expectations. Spacious cabins, wonderful sundeck, excellent food, smooth cruising, small capacity relative to other boats and service oriented staff made for a very enjoyable time. At first I was going to book my own guides, but opted instead to book the cruise's siteseeing package. Glad I did, Hamad our guide was outstanding and there can be delays in the cruise do to timing in the river locks which could make coordination with outside guides difficult and stressful. This is an excellent luxury cruise experience.

The cruise exceeded our expectations for the price. The staff and service could not be better. Everyone was polite and friendly. Everyone seemed to take pride in their work and strived to provide a great experience. We bought tours separately and our tor guide, Hamed, was excellent. He is very knowledgeable, personable and informative.

We had a marvelous and magical time on the MS Alexander the Great! I loved that it wasn't an overly large cruise ship. It has 30 cabins or so. Worthy of note, the shower water pressure in the bathroom was great. The upper deck was lovely for viewing. The food was absolutely phenomenal. The staff was accommodating in every way. Evidently it has been recently refurbished and the cabin decor was very nice. It felt modern and updated. All our visits to the various sights were well-coordinated. I would highly recommend this cruise ship.

Boat is beautiful. Def not a party boat but excellent for relaxing and enjoying Nile views. Food was very good and the staff were first rate. Not too many people which was a plus for us. Only one complaint: there are vendors on the boat and towards the end they became a little annoying with trying to push their wares. Other than that I would cruise again - it would be great for a romantic trip or relaxing vacay.

We are 4 friends from Greece that we had chosen Alexander the Great after recommendation. Overall the experience exceeded our expectations. The Journey from Luxor to Aswan was amazing, the hospitality, friendliness of the staff and the owner was unique, everything was clean and the food was very tasty with a big variety. It was really value for money and I recommend .
