Reviews
The beach is lovely and food is incredibly generous.
The resort is quiet only at midnight when everything closes down.
Socialising and integrating with diverse communities is a key part of its services.
As a couple, we really enjoyed our stay in this hotel, fully recommended.
1. The hotel has no elevator, and the room was on the third floor. Staff helped with check-in, but I had to carry it down myself when checking out.
2. On the first day, I ran out of water in the room and called the hotel. The water delivery took half an hour, resulting in a lot of waiting.
3. On the second day, I had a fever and went out to buy medicine. I called the hotel front desk and asked for water, and they said yes. However, after waiting 15 minutes, it still hadn't arrived. When I went to check out and said "good morning" to the staff, they barely responded and were busy playing on their phones.
4. Checking out should only take a minute, but the front desk said they needed to check and would take five minutes. My car had arrived immediately, whereas at other hotels, check-out is instant.
5. The hotel front desk staff's English was extremely poor; they couldn't understand many words. I asked for a bowl, but the front desk staff didn't understand and told me to go to the front desk to show them a picture. After showing it, they said they needed to confirm with the restaurant, and then called again to say the restaurant didn't have any usable bowls. I don't understand why a restaurant as big as this would have such difficulty finding a bowl. Only after arguing with the front desk did they say they would confirm with the manager. The bowls were finally brought out last, taking almost 1.5 hours in total.
Overall, communication was extremely difficult; the English was poor, and the staff were stubborn and inflexible. The efficiency was also terrible; what was said to be 5 minutes always ended up taking at least half an hour. The front desk staff were also impolite; after saying "good morning" a few times during checkout, they pretended not to hear and played on their phones. My last experience in Egypt was terrible; I suggest you choose carefully. I don't know if it's discrimination against Chinese people. We even encountered an elderly white woman stealing bread at the restaurant.
We stayed at Minamark Resort for only a few hours before our flight and had a terrible experience. We booked a room without a pool view to avoid noise, but it was very loud — we heard shouting and even what sounded like a fight on the street. The AC made a horrible buzzing sound, so we had to turn it off. For the price, the room was outdated and far below a 4-star standard.
The worst part happened at check-out. We never used the pool, but the staff insisted we return towel cards that we had accidentally left in the room. Even after explaining that our taxi was waiting and we were late for the airport, the receptionist forced me to go back to get them. Then the shift manager spoke to us aggressively and even tried to stop our taxi driver from leaving. It felt intimidating and completely unprofessional.
Only the lobby looks decent — everything else is average, and the staff were rude and unfriendly.
Absolutely do not recommend this hotel.
- Boat parking on the pier and strangers walking in.
+ Clean, well-maintained. Beautiful grounds.
+ Clean rooms.
+ Drinks at the bar and coffee.
+ Very tasty food (we stayed at another hotel, so we have something to compare it to).
+ Good staff.
There are, however, a couple of downsides. The biggest issue is with the beach – all sunbeds are taken very early in the morning, so you practically have to get up at 6 a.m., sometimes even before sunrise, to secure a spot. Another drawback is that the rooms, at least the one we stayed in, are quite old and in need of renovation.
Despite these shortcomings, we really enjoyed our stay and would happily return again.
P. S. A special shoutout to Carlos at the pool bar - you're the best! 🌞 Also for the staff from Lotus spa, Dr Fish and the guy who makes delicious fresh fruit juices on the beach. I wish you all the best!
The soups are awful. Snacks are practically nonexistent, because they are, oh my... worthless. The rooms are poorly cleaned, with sand on the floors all week.
On the plus side, beautiful views and a well-maintained exterior. The lifeguards at the waterslide are excellent. No music or attractions during the day, but maybe that's how it is in Egypt. Booked for three people, but the beds are two singles. Two people only get water and glasses, as if a child is nothing. Apparently, it's similar in other, more expensive hotels.
