Great little hotel. The only issue was the lift was undergoing maintenance and as we were on the fifth floor, it was quite a task with our luggage.

Easy to find ref local transport from the station. I was on a work visit ref local history of Normandy. Room large. Warm. An attached twin. Bathroom was fine somewhat dusty ref radiator. Shower not good. Funny flow and aeration. Ground floor stank of a peculiar smell. Outside ref patio dirty and needs a proper jet wash. Shame as beautiful limestone. Fabulous stay! Many folks stay in Bayeau when visiting the beaches of Normandy but Caen is less touristy! This small boutique hotel is not far from the beaches and offers a glimpse of local life. It was adorable and great location. The service was excellent. Our charge, as we thought was about $100. But at checkout it was additional 90. We were told to "come, in it's free" regarding breakfast, it was not. Too much $ for breakfast.

It’s certainly an experience and one you should try - unless the idea of sleeping in a pitch black cave, underground with no windows or light puts you off!! Both unusual and disconcerting, sleeping in a cave is above all calming. The place opens onto a pretty garden on the banks of the Loire, a stone's throw from the town center of Amboise and its castles. I thank our hosts, welcoming and discreet, and the services offered, such as breakfast served directly in the loft and the massage service, very appreciated after a good day of walking. I recommend!

We went to celebrate our pre-Valentine's Day😀 in the loft which is cozy romantic far from the other rooms, perfect as we wanted. The setting is super nice, the swimming pool too and the owner of the gîte is a young man who wants it and who deserves to be known 😃😃. So make your reservations to enjoy this troglodyte cottage😄😄.

This is not a regular hotel. It's an experience. And a fantastic experience at that. The idea of sleeping in a very old cave with little ventilation, no natural light and high humidity might not sound appealing to all but we definitely enjoyed it. The place is beautiful and so unique. Prepare for a damp and dimly lit atmosphere and if you are sensitive to the cold, make sure to bring a jumper as it's a cave so it is much cooler than outside. Great location and host. Catherine is an excellent host. Property is 10 mins walk uphill from the medieval city and next to the river. Parking is in free car park 2 mins walk from property.
