There are a few things to know when visiting Paris in the winter. It's cold, raining, and very windy. It's nice to be able to come inside and be greeted by friendly people behind the desk. These concierge gave above and beyond. When my husband left his man-purse in the cab, he called the hotel to ask if they could track down the cab company and have them return it to the hotel. The young woman did just that and had it waiting for us when we returned from our Versailles tour. It cost 16.00 euros, but it was so worth it. Thanks to her fast actions, it was recovered without anything missing. The one notable thing here is they spoke English and helped us often decide on the directions to places we walked. The hotel even offers umbrellas for guests' use. The morning breakfast they offer is standard fare, but usually hot and fresh. The coffee was wonderful and the manager of the breakfast was so wonderfully warm and welcoming. The hotel is on the outskirts of the downtown core and very convenient. The only downside to this is the room we stayed in was small and didn't offer any place to hold our clothes except for a small closet and limited hangers. The shelves were also limited and I would have rather had a small dresser than a desk. All-in-all, the bed was comfortable. However, the shower had a really slippery floor and we got a rubber mat from housekeeping to help. Getting into the tub for showering was not for any handicapped person to deal with, so if you are handicapped in anyway, you should ask for a handicap room.

Charm over convenience. We selected this hotel for our family (2 adults, 2 kids) because it looked charming and had a view of the Eiffel Tower. It was charming, it was clean, it had a view of the Eiffel Tower, but it also felt 'rickety.' The stairs were slanted/not level (maybe that's the charm talking??), the elevator was dated, the bathroom was very very small and a little stained, the hallways were narrow. This hotel was conveniently located a very short walk to the Metro station. Their breakfast was fair. It had hotel-scrambled eggs, an egg boiler, some bacon, yogurt cups, and pastries. The drinking water refill spout was very nice as we refilled all our water bottles. We weren't sure that the water in the hotel was all drinking water. If we would do it again as a family, we would skip the 'charm' for this price point, and go to another hotel that had more modern conveniences, without a view of the Eiffel Tower. Perhaps with just 2 adults, this would have been okay, but it was just too tight for our little family. Also, the quality of food at the Madeleine Cafe next door was disappointing. We had breakfast and lunch there. Their service was friendly, in English, and fast, but quality was very poor, and tasted like fast food or a greasy diner.

I cannot stress enough how terrible my experience at this hotel was. Would give zero stars if I could. I came in September and was supposed to stay four nights in the hotel. When I checked in I noticed the hotel room was a little run down - really due for an update - but clean enough. I also noticed my deadbolt wasn't working, but I didn't think much of it at the time. When I went to bed that night I went to double check the door and realized that it actually does not latch at all. I went outside the room and shut the door hard, pulling to see if it would latch and every time I could just push the door open, no key needed. I had unknowingly left all my stuff (passport included!) in the room during the day with it unlocked, and now I was supposed to sleep with no lock on the door (a female solo traveler). When I called the front desk, they told me they had no rooms available and that I had to wait until morning for the manager to come in. I obviously wasn't able to sleep at all, because I was so freaked out about not having a lock on the door, and went down to speak to the manager in the morning. She then told me that I wasn't closing the door correctly. She tried a few times and then told me that it was in issue with the slow close mechanism and that they would take that out so that the door slammed shut every time. I told her I just needed a different room with an actual working lock, which they didn't have, so I told her I needed to check out. She told me that she would have to charge me for that night because I didn't tell her that the night before (recall she wasn't there and I was told to wait until morning). I ended up being charged for a second night in this hotel, when I actually did not even sleep a single night there. A lock seems like a basic thing to ask for in a hotel room, but apparently not. Do not stay here. There are plenty of beautiful and affordable boutique hotels in Paris that actually have your basic safety and security in mind.

Great hotel in a great location. Easily accessible to any place in the center of Paris, the metro station is right next door. And, of course, the window has a view of the magnificent Madeleine Church. It was nice that the rooms were large (by Paris standards, because usually even 3-4 star hotels in Paris have very small rooms), and the level of cleanliness was also high. Pleasant and kind staff (which is not so typical for Paris). Thanks to the hotel managers for the pleasant welcome - macaroons and champagne in the room. Good luck in the future!

Wonderful hotel in a central location near the Place de la Concorde and right beside the Madeleine Church hence the name. We were on the fifth floor with an amazing view of Madeleine, the Eiffel Tower and the Sacre Coeur in the distance to the rear. Breakfast was very good with good selection of cooked and cold food. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend and will certainly stay there again.

Perfect location close to main attractions and few steps away from the metro station. Rooms are quite small and a little oldish, but we managed (nice view over the Madeleine helped!!). Otherwise the staff was great (a little less available or low on staff in the evenings though which is a shame) but very nice and helpful. Breakfast was ok. We enjoyed staying there :)

The hotel's location is best in Paris, walking distance to everything. Attitude of all people, especially front desk personnel, is great. Breakfast is also top quality. Rooms are cosy and chic. What else can one expect of a hotel?

We stayed at the hotel for four days and it was truly a wonderful experience. The view from our rooms was amazing. The location is unbelievably convenient with the subway station being few steps away. The staff are exceptional and friendly, offering their help at any given situation. Will definitely stay there again!
