Hôtel Plaza Étoile in Paris

I am travelling alone and I had to book a deluxe room in this hotel yesterday 11 June 2025 as I could not get any rooms in this hotel or any hotel in the vicinity. I had to pay a hefty price of 560 Euro for a night’s stay! The usual price of a room in this hotel ranges between 150-230 Euros otherwise for this season. I checked in at 9pm yesterday and I only realized it at midnight there was a pungent smell in the toilet when I tried to use it. I had to hold my breath in order to use the toilet. The state of the smell in the toilet is simply not acceptable! The guy at reception came to take a look at it and said he will do something about it. As I did not hear from him in 45 mins, I had to remind him again and he came up to room with some air freshener which did not help at all. I told him I will like a refund if not a discount on the room rate which I have already paid in full. He mentioned he will notify the reception staff in the morning but the reception staff said he didn’t hear anything of it and he will need to escalate the matter to the management and I should hear from the management within a day. I hope the management gets to hear about this issue here as well and I hope to get a refund else a discount for the unpleasant experience in your hotel. merci, Deborah
