Hotel Santo Karlsruhe in Karlsruhe

Update: adding a review of the hotel room where I stayed 4 nights
Hotel room: spacious, has a safe, A/C and refrigerator and daily bottled water.. liked the lotion, body wash, shampoo and conditioner provided. Spacious bathroom: with no bathtub. Professional front desk. Restaurant staff were great. Substantial breakfast buffet. Cons: bed sags a bit and wasn’t very comfortable, blackout curtain not enough to shield all outside light.

This review is for my experience at their bar only. The drinks I tried were excellent- those were Banana no Monkey and Pisco Summer. Staff were friendly and provided great service. Lots of seating. Great place to relax and unwind.
Bar was still great. It was quiet and relaxing most days except one night where there was a loud piano.

Stayed here after a trip at another hotel with no air con. The ac was great and the room comfortable. It was also a nice walk from the train station on a tree covered street.

Check in was easy and WiFi was strong and I could use it for work.

The staff there was excellent and helpful as I arranged travel to the office I was visiting. Walking distance to the city center.

Rooms were nice enough, bed was comfortable, lots of light and a nice work station with comfortable chair.

It was over 4 stars. The hotel has over 1000 reviews.

The hotel is really nice, clean and has a very good location - the nearby streets have beautiful architecture and it was a good starting point for our personal walk tour through sights of Karlsruhe.

The bathroom was exceptionally nice.

And also breakfast was very nicely managed - with a really broad range of options.

The receptionists were very professional, kind and helpful. They explained the parking options right away during check in: 1) there is a paid garage that is quite narrow and 2) there is also a free rooftop parking available - the receptionist opens the entryway for the car, and the rooftop parking is accesible from the second floor of the hotel, although the entrance from the roof to the hotel is not marked very well - it is kinda in the middle of the parking area (not on the sides).

We also visited the hotel bar, having received the 50% off your first drink voucher that comes with each booking (per person). The hotel bar was very nicely furnished, and the staff seemed very knowledgeable about the drinks and service was good.

We were a group of four people at the hotel for a week, working at a venue close by. We did not feel totally welcomed by the bar staff. This is a lovely hotel, but we felt like outsiders, almost as if our euros were not as important as guests that were not staying at the hotel.
Reception staff were lovely, rooms great, there was just a feeling of not being welcomed, in the bar area, we were well behaved at all times.

Very good hotel, extremely good value. A 10 min walk from the train station and and a 5 min walk into town centre. Breakfast was plentiful and very good choice. The cocktail bar gave it a good ambiance at night. Rooms were good and clean. Free coffee in reception area was a good touch.

We came across this hotel a bit by chance but it was an excellent chance indeed! Great service with special touch for the little ones (a nice child bath glove and appropriate cosmetics were provided) , abundant breakfast and nice bar! Also, very close to the Zoo and a walking distance from the city center. Definitely recommend!

Hotel Santo was an average experience of Hotel. Check-in was smooth, the Airconditioning was a bit loud, the cocktail and sandwich was very good. At breakfast we observed a guest who put all kind of breakfast items into his rucksack & then suddenly disappeared to a nearby lift. He was on his own and did not appear to be a local guest. It was sad to see this. Breakfast quality was fine.
