Great place and location to live in.

Staffs were kind and respectful. location was perfect and the food was so fantastic. I will definitely revisit next time.

The restaurant entrance also serves as the hotel entrance. There's paid parking nearby for €19 per day. The location is excellent—parking can be a bit difficult, but the accommodation itself is very convenient.

The hotel is an old building, which exceeded my expectations. The rooms were clean, and the location right next to the Old Bridge was very convenient and quiet. The hotel receptionists were very helpful. It was a bit of a pity that I only stayed for one day this time. I will stay here again next time I come to Heidelberg.

The location is fantastic! Just 20 meters to the right after exiting the hotel is Tonghou! The staff were very friendly, and there were apples available in the elevator area. There was a kettle but no slippers. Breakfast included cheesecake! Not bad. However, on the afternoon of our check-in, the hotel emailed us saying there was no hot water, meaning we either couldn't shower or had to change hotels...

The room wasn't big but it was clean, though the hot water wasn't very good. The restaurant downstairs was exquisitely decorated with a musical instrument theme. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Dinner was authentic German food, but not very good. The old bridge, square, and church are just outside. The staff spoke excellent English and were very friendly. Highly recommended!

Great breakfast variety in a very nice breakfast room. Hotel was in a great location, walkable to everything, close to the river and castle. Our room was a little noisy as it faced the street, but didn’t keep me awake.

Quaint, older hotel right in the heart of the cathedral square. Great service. Room had a lot of space. Clean and comfortable. Solid breakfast included. No air conditioning, but a big fan and all of the windows opened to allow a lot of cool air. Some street noise later into the summer nights, which I liked. No lift. Had to port luggage up stairs. No PSD ports, so just use an adapter.

The hotel is very conveniently located at the corner of the marketplace, the center of Heidelberg. Great location! Very friendly mostly German speaking staff. Breakfast is good for 17.5Euro/person, checkout easy. Has small elevator (but 3 then 2 stairs at entry for our stroller). Would be nice to have a communal hangout space, coffee machine (at lobby or room), facecloths provided, squeegee for the water then gets on bathroom floor from shower, later reception.

Great property... however limited reception hrs ..there only 4 to 6 hrs a day .... prefer to have a live person

No reception The room was fine and comfortable, but the checkin was a mess. At 5pm, there was no one at reception, and we had to get our key from a lockbox outside. Not a big deal, but completely impersonal.

My only struggle was showing up later than expected and not being able to contact the emergency number due to my phone, but I got it figured out and everyone was kind and approachable. I stayed in a single room, which worked for me, but I would definitely look at the larger rooms if I was with my wife and/or family.

It was a real delight staying here. Not only was the hotel installations very beautiful and the rooms big, but the personal was also extremely kind and helpful, giving many delicious options for the breakfast, and kindly looking after anything they could to make the stay more pleasant. It is right in the Altstadt, close to everything, but its at the same time peaceful. I will definitely come back next...

This is a throwback to a simpler time: a family-owned hotel with perfectly comfortable but simply appointed rooms and gracious service from the proprietors. The breakfast in particular was wonderful: not your usual buffet, but instead everything brought to your table, including, of course, delicious breakfast rolls, but also eggs cooked to order, homemade jelly, a nice spread of cheese and cold cuts...

We were very pleased by our stay at the Altstaft. It is a small boutique hotel that isn’t fancy but it is in great condition, super clean and in a great location near Bismarckplatz, transportation and the Main Street for shopping and dining. Walkable in 15 minutes to the funicular to get to Schloss Heidelberg. Would go back for sure.

We went there for dinner in June and was seated outdoors. The service was good however I felt our waiter was a bit overwhelmed since it was busy. This review is for the restaurant only. From the pleasant welcome to the wonderful evening, there was nothing to complain about. The food was delicious, the menu items were well-coordinated, and there was a good wine list. The cinema was excellent, definitely worth a visit.

Friendly staff, beautifully unique and large rooms, comfortable heat control in the winter, and a great shower/tub. It's an old building so noise travels between rooms.

I really enjoyed the ease of this hotel. I travelled for business and everything was ready, efficient and accessible. The room was spacious, clean with a kitchenette which was very useful. The low-key hotel focused on functionality and Bauhaus art was a nice surprise as i only needed a night rest during travel by car. Its clean and well maintained. Sleeping was a dream.

I stayed at this hotel in connection with a visit to one of the residents of the nearby Augustinum carehome, which could not offer guest accomodation. This is an older hotel and unfortunately not what I would consider a 4 star hotel. Hotel has a nice view over the city but it is a little more difficult to get to, having to use either a taxi/uber or the funicular when it is open (winter house are limited). The rooms are very small and the bed is quite firm. Doesn’t quite live up to what we were hoping for in a one night stay in Heidelberg

We liked the location away from the busy centre but only a ride on the funicular railway. Breakfast was plenty the staff very attentive and cheerful and friendly. We had a small room but super clean and comfortable.

My room was cozy with an awesome view, and the staff were fantastic. Everybody was so nice and helpful! I had a car carrier that would not fit in the parking garage and they let me take it off and bring it up to their storage room until we left. If they didn’t let me do that I would’ve had a park 1.8 km away. We had a great time at the Christmas market, which is just below perfect location.

The hotel was very nice. A big surprise was the hotel is located by one of the Christmas Markets. The receptionist who checked us in recommended a great restaurant. Great rooms, breakfast, and front desk service. A few notes for travelers interested in staying here: Most rooms do not have a fridge. There is no gym and the nearest gyms are very expensive. The WiFi is very slow and will not load most websites.

The hotel has a great location, close to many attractions and convenient for getting around. However, it’s right next to the tram track, so you can expect some noise, especially at night. I was assigned a room on the 4th floor, which was generally clean and comfortable, but there were some visible ceiling edges. Overall, it’s a decent stay if you don’t mind a bit of city noise.

The room was wonderful, until we realized it had not AC, and it was hot during our stay. They provide a fan, which helped. Also, they had a refrigerator, but it didn't keep items cold. We had to buy ice.

One of the loveliest hotels I've ever visited and in a perfect, quiet location. Stayed for three nights. Charming traditional features whilst bathroom shiny and new. We did fantastic walks both side of the river straight from the front door. Lively vibe for refreshments in Heumarkt on our return. We'll certainly be back!

This is a very old hotel in the middle of old town and tourist attractions. It has two Michelin stars on the front door. It's cute that the reception desk is nearly in the kitchen. My room was redone with new flooring and an updated bath. The ceiling beams were a little low so I bumped my head a few times. Overall we had a very nice stay.

It is close to the central train station and conveniently located, but the facilities are old and the space is small.

It was the weekend, so rooms were quite expensive. The room I booked was a single room with a 0.8-meter bed. The sink for brushing teeth and washing face was next to the desk and bed, making the space quite cramped. The cleanliness was good, but the shower drain was very slow, and the water accumulated ankle-deep, which was a bit of a negative experience.

We stayed at the hotel in June 2025. Family of four. The location is relatively central and close to the train station. This is great for those on foot but it also means it is loud and busy in the area. There is a park across the street towards train station that had people in it talking loudly and screaming until late into the morning. The police came by twice late at night to clear them out but...

Budget hotel a short walk to main station. Nothing fancy but clean and comfortable and good value. Only downside- no aircon.

Heidelberg is a magical experience. From this hotel it's easy to access the old town on tram, bike, or foot. Be sure to hike in the hills overlooking the town. If you encounter unhoused migrants here or anywhere in the world, send them your love and see yourselves in them.

We had an amazing stay! The front desk manager was so helpful- he had great recommendations and was so hospitable! The rooms were also large and so comfortable. We loved the historical touches combined with the comfortable beds and linens.
