Description

Jugendherberge Aachen is a 3-star youth hostel offering a variety of room types including dorm beds and family rooms, suitable for different traveler needs. The accommodation features non-smoking rooms, heating, and accessible facilities for disabled guests. Guests will find a garden and terrace on-site, along with amenities such as a bar, laundry, shared kitchen, and restaurant serving a continental breakfast from 7 to 9 a.m. The hostel provides free parking and WiFi, although internet access is reported to be weak or non-functional in guest rooms. The rooms are described as simply furnished yet spacious, with some family rooms featuring unique elements like bunk beds hidden behind sliding doors. Service is generally friendly and accommodating, though guests must bring their own bed linen and make their own beds. The hostel also offers meeting facilities and a games room, making it a versatile option for families and groups.

Location

Located in Aachen at Maria-Theresia-Allee 260, the youth hostel sits on the outskirts of town in a quiet residential area surrounded by greenery. It is approximately 72 km from the QDU airport station. A bus stop is about a 4-minute walk away, yet public transportation options are limited and buses do not run frequently, making access to the city center somewhat challenging. Free parking is available on the street nearby, but be prepared for a steep slope if you drive back to drop off luggage. While not centrally located, the hostel is near lovely walks and cycling routes, offering a peaceful environment away from city bustle.

  • Bring your own bed linen and be prepared to make your own bed upon arrival.
  • Arrive early for breakfast, as it is only served until 9 a.m.

Very bare bones accommodation.
Expensive for what it was. Internet didn't work in the room. Had to make up our own beds and bring linen down at the end of our stay. Breakfast was good continental style.

Friendly hostel
Very spacious room (for 4 people, but there were 2 of us), simply furnished, located on the ground floor. Bathroom accessible to disabled people (unrequested), so toilet and shower are in the same place (which is not the case in standard rooms). No soap or cups.
Breakfast included in the price: quite comprehensive but different depending on the day (with or without eggs, etc.) but only until 9 a.m.
Very warm welcome, but we were not systematically offered towels (sometimes we had to ask for them).
On the other hand, a key for nighttime arrivals was provided.
The room was very cold upon arrival, but well ventilated (December 😉).
Don't hesitate to drive back to drop off your luggage (the slope is rather steep!!).
Free parking on the street.
Located quite far from the center of Aachen, and we didn't find a good option using public transportation.
Ineffective Wi-Fi (located in the building next door).
Difficult to get coffee or anything else outside of breakfast (no one to serve it).
The hostel is rather expensive (€100) for the amenities.

Beautiful youth hostel on the outskirts of town, surrounded by greenery.
The staff is extremely friendly, competent, and accommodating. The clean room is spacious and very quiet. The breakfast is delicious and leaves nothing to be desired. The bus stop is a 4-minute walk away.

Anyone booking an overnight stay at a youth hostel should be aware that it's a youth hostel. So, don't expect a spa, a king-size bed, or a TV in your room. However, it's a reasonably priced place to stay, and relatively quiet. One thing to keep in mind is that you need to bring your own bed linen and be able to change it. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful, the service friendly, and I'd be happy to come back.

very quiet and private.

So the beds were like silk and the bed sheets did don’t fit the bed. The food gave people food poisoning and were sick all throughout the trip. The bathroom had no soap. The drain didn’t work for the shower so they gave you a brush to scrape the water down the drain. No shower curtain. The coffee didn’t taste like coffee. The milk was gloopy. It wasn’t a good trip for us.

The breakfast was more than what I expected. Very recommended. See you there / see you then.

Beautifully furnished room. The highlight was the bunk bed hidden behind sliding doors. The kids loved it. They said it was like being in a hotel. The sinks, etc., were clean, and there were two of them. We were even asked in the morning if our bathroom needed cleaning. The downside is the non-working Wi-Fi and the broken TV in the games room and common room. (That reminds you that you're in Germany.) It only had one channel and the picture was striped. The staff is very helpful and friendly.

It is a great pleace to stay. The hostel is on the suburban of a Akwizgard so that the neighbourhood is quiet. Next to is bus stop but the buses are not arrives here often. So generały it is a good place for standing here for a few days as a start point.

Well run youth hostel near lovely walks and cycle rides. Photos online are representative but not for all rooms....some were still an older design.
