Glyfada Riviera Hotel in Athens

Far from 5 star hotels at this hotel. There is only one elevator for the whole hotel, which is always busy, so might as well just take the stairs. Upon arriving, the room wasn't ready, so half n hour wait in the lobby. Once in the room the service team forgot, to leave us water, glasses, the bed sheets were not made and the espresso machine had no water as well no coffee cups. The shower head was falling apart. For what you pay the room is quite small to be honest and the amenities for sauna and steam are insanely expensive. Not to mention the street in front of the hotel seems to be more of a highway, as you hear the cars pass all night. The restaurant service is quite slow, had to wait 10 minutes just to get my 7 euro beer, which you're better of just going to market next to the hotel. The mini bar didn't have a beer opener, so that meant making a trip to the lobby for a bottle opener. The gym is quite small, with no windows. The cherry on top, the day before we left, the cleaning lady stole some of wife's jeweller and electronics. Definitely not a good choice to stay here, not a 5 star hotel. Terrible!!!

Heed the warnings from other reviews. I wish we had. Half the amenities described when booking were unavailable. No self-service laundry. The pool had no water in it. Our AC was broken and never worked even after speaking with the front desk a total of 5 times. Only one tiny elevotor. I'm not sure how its classified as a 5-star hotel. Seems on par with 2 star US hotels. Some staff were friendly others were not. Beware.

Some staff are ok, some very rude. The hotel lobby always smells of cigarette smoke. So did my room some evenings. The breakfast is great, so is the breakfast staff, but the noise is relentless, not just from the busy road outside; but the doors are so thin and the staff seem fine with people coming in at 2am laughing and talking at full volume. I’ve stayed in hostels that are quieter. I called down 3 times one evening and they don’t seem to care. If you like a good sleep and don’t like cigarette smoke, it’s not the hotel for you.
