Klelia Beach Hotel by Zante Plaza in Kalamakion

Really strange place as I can think of some good points - and then some not so good points - but then did have a decent holiday....so here goes.

We wanted an All Inclusive holiday where our sole intention was to crash out for the week and get some late summer sunshine. We arrived Monday 6th October for the week.

PROS

Great location - 2-3 minute walk to the beach - cracking beach bar there too
Right on the main road at the start of Kalamaki -close to bars and restaurants
The staff were very good - everyone we encountered were superb
Lovely pool which is fresh water so cold.
Bus to Laganas as just round the corner.

CONS
Our room was on the lower floor facing the pool and probably below the pool surface - it was gloomy, dated and smelt musty - but as the week went on - was ok - but did look battered and in need of some TLC

The eating area is more like a canteen than a restaurant.
The food is average in selection - edible without being something to write home about.
We saw the food as "functional" rather than enjoyable
Most was tepid or cold - certainly not hot
The salad selection was lovely
The deserts - as with most all inclusive - tasted of nothing

The all inclusive drinks were poor - very low alcohol - one of my drinks had half a large glass of vodka and i felt nothing
The soft drinks are served from plastic bottles and therefore tasteless, warm and flat.
When we stayed - absolute wasp central !! so much so - not worth taking drinks to your sun loungers as youd be plagued by wasps instantly.
Talking of sun loungers - dated and mainly uncomfortable.
Out of main season - once youve eaten, theres no where else to relax - just the canteen or back to your room.

SUMMARY

In summary and considering what we paid, acceptable in parts (we ate out a couple times which further highlighted how average the food was)
The "canteen" got busy second half of the week so dread to think what its like in peak summer - no space at all - same for the sun loungers.

If your looking for a cheapish pre or post high season break then maybe - for your main summer holiday - not for me.

⭐️⭐️ Overall rating: More like a 2★ than a 5★ by UK standards (and worth remembering hotel standards in this country are often lower than many other European five stars).

Pros:
Room 801 was spacious with lovely views
Staff were friendly and attentive
Food was excellent overall (the real highlight)

Great location
Cons:
Hot tub in the room was tired and dated
Deep-fried eggs at breakfast (a flat frying hotplate would be better)
Cutlery sometimes looked hand-washed, not dishwashed
Drinks were very weak
Hotel shabby around the edges and needs work
Sunbeds were old, broken, and cheap quality
Room safe should be free
Beach and pool towels worn and unpleasant
Constant sewage smell behind fencing near the road
Verdict:
We had a lovely stay overall thanks to the staff, food, and location – but the hotel is let down by tired facilities and maintenance issues. Sadly, we wouldn’t return.

Overall it is quite nice I enjoyed it. I like the food even though I think snacks should switch up a bit, the pool is nice. Rooms are cleaned everyday. However I think it lacks entertainment and was quite boring sometimes at the night.
