We stayed at Memphis Hotel in Kolymbia for one week, and honestly, we had a very good experience. Before booking we noticed a few negative reviews on Tripadvisor, so we weren’t sure what to expect — but in the end, we were pleasantly surprised. The staff were very nice, welcoming, and always willing to help, which really added to the stay. The food was also good, with enough choice each day to find something we liked. It may not be gourmet, but it was tasty and satisfying. Our room was comfortable and clean, with everything we needed for a relaxing holiday. The hotel itself has a laid-back atmosphere and a convenient location, making it easy to enjoy both the pool and the surrounding area. It’s not the most luxurious place you’ll find, but that’s also part of the charm — it delivers what it promises without overcomplicating things. In our opinion, if you’re not the kind of person who is extremely picky, you can have a really nice holiday here. For us, it was exactly what we were looking for: simple, relaxing, and enjoyable. We would happily recommend Memphis Hotel to anyone considering a stay in Kolymbia.

Kolymbia is a family resort and whilst there are some empty premises on the main road (Eucalyptus St) there are some nice restaurants/bars (also basic cafe type premises and sports bars). All hotel staff extremely helpful and pleasant throughout the hotel - with the exception of two days when the fire alarms went off in our room block and no staff came down to check what the issues were (even when we went to the reception to ask what was going on). Hotel OK except extra needed for aircon (8 euros per night per room) and tourist tax (5 euros per night per room) and this had to be paid in cash. No laundry facilities at the hotel but they can send up to a 4KG wash load to a launderette in the next village for 16euros (also cash). Hotel was clean throughout, room service tried to clean daily (bar one day) so long as the ‘Do not disturb’ sign wasn’t on your room door. Pools were cleaned daily with a special pool cleaning robot. Loads of mosquitos about so I would advise to you to take insect repellant and after bite. There is a pharmacy and a GP surgery a couple of streets away. No aircon except for the dining room (and your own room if you’d paid the extra), the main communal areas didn’t have it at all. No fans even which was horrendous to sit in during August from 8am onwards: probably to ensure you didn’t hang about and have too many all inclusive drinks. Awful, loud banging euro pop/ Greek radio blaring out from morning till 11pm in the poolside area (where the communal space is)which also made you want to move asap! At dinner there was the same rubbish music in the dining hall too. Drinks on the all inclusive were dreadful. Weak, cheap versions of spirits (except Ouzo which was lethal) and cocktails that all tasted the same. The lager was poor and I’ve never had wine as awful (sweet and vinegary). We resorted to buying our own in the end to drink there and visiting local bars (the bar at the harbour was lovely- El Verano Beach House as was Brillantina just up the main road). Male staff at Oasis were unpleasant and demanded payment upfront for drinks - took ages to serve us and argued that they’d put a live football on for husband when it was a replay of one from last year- avoid! Meal times meant being jostled by the many guests also obtaining food. Husband described it as like ‘a middle class soup kitchen’! Food was a touch repetitive but there was always something on each day you could eat: not sure why people were complaining there was nothing for their children to eat: plenty of salads, usually a couple of different types of potatoes (Smash dyed with green food colouring was my favourite!) a rice dish, a pasta dish, vegetarian options plus a fish dish, beef dish (the stewed steak was really nice), a chicken dish and on themed nights (Mexican, Chinese, Thai) there would be extra dishes into fit with the themes. Loads of lovely mini puddings at dinner, fruit and ice cream available at lunch time. If you fancied a change you could

We have just come back from a fantastic 10 days in Kolympia and good stay at the Memphis Beach hotel with our 12 year old I want to give an honest review that shows the good and not so good part of this hotel so people can get an honest picture as I find some people are really hard to please and basically never satisfied Firstly if you like to meet English friends on holiday this is not the hotel for you as it is mainly Greek German Polish and Italian patrons If you want to eat and drink from 7am until 1am this is on the place for you This hotel is basically full board with a few drinks slung in Meal times are strict 8am-10 breakfast 12.30-2pm lunch and dinner 7pm-9pm there is NO snack bar during the day Rooms are clean and basic we upgraded to superior room but not sure what we actually paid the extra for Air conditioners you pay extra for (which we didn’t mind as we have paid extra before in turkey) The air conditioners are at the front door so some homes doesn’t feel very cool during the day but very cool at night There are two the main pool is always busy because there are very few loungers for the size of he pool I assume it so you leave the hotel and buy food and drinks The smaller pool is quieter and can usually get a bed but there is no bar so would have to walk to the main bar Pool area at main pool can get very untidy as there s no pool staff and only one person behind the bar The food in the hotel restaurant is ok (on website they state 2 restaurants but technically there is only one in use at any one time) There is a wide range of salads cold pasta hot pasta two meat dishes a fish with rice chips(or potato’s) food is always hot and tasty we only are in there a couple of times as we were only using hotel as a base Hotel is in a perfect location to eucalyptus street where there are great bars and restaurants all in walking distance Food and drinks on the Main Street is excellent quality and value for money We used this hotel as a base we went out every night as the bar closes at 11pm so basically didn’t go to the bar at night If you are going to stay in the hotel day and night you maybe a little disappointed as you get what you pay for if your wanting to just eat and drink in the hotel then I would suggest staying In one of the 4-5star hotels Rooms are cleaned every day and cleaners will attempt twice a day to get in your room Staff are friendly and helpful patrons are not friendly at all We had a really lovely holiday and Kolympia is a beautiful resort with very friendly helpful people We would definitely go again and would stay at the Memphis Beach Recommendations due to the fact that hotel doesn’t provide snacks it would be a good idea to provide a kettle and microwave in each room as some people are on a budget

Hotel is in a good location, 35mins drive from the airport and Rhodes town, 10min walk from the beach, 1min walk from the main street with bars and restaurants. The hotel and pools were clean and the staff very friendly. Downsides were poor choice and variety of food, options were repetitive and often too salty to eat, although there was mostly a reasonable salad option on offer there was no traditional Greek food other than on the themed night, again with little variety. No snacks during the day and only soft drinks, beer and wine available until 8pm (or might be 6pm?) Although the advert states newly refurbished I think this just included a lick of paint, rooms are tired. No bins in rooms, lumpy pillows, 8 euros a night for air con and only 1 night of entertainment- traditional Greek music and dancing. The proximity to the main street and an outside club meant loud music until 12.30am.

Upon arrival we were told that the hotel tax was only payable in cash. Having been despatched to our room we had no way of getting the air conditioning working. Returning to Reception we were told that air conditioning was only available as an extra, at a cost of €8 per night. Again, payable in cash. Both transactions had no receipt for payment. The air conditioner was not great and constantly dripped water onto the floor, which made it quite slippery at times. Despite asking to have it looked at we were never told it was ok, and it continued to work very poorly. The hotel advertised entertainment, but in the 11 nights that we stayed, only two nights had any form of “entertainment.” One was two lads, one with a keyboard & one with a guitar, who were there for about an hour. We didn’t see the second nights’ entertainment, so can’t comment. The food was, at best, average. The taverna’s & restaurants locally provided a much higher standard of food. When we asked for a late check out, again we were told that if it was possible it would be a €50 charge, again cash! Thankfully we were able to use a friends room to shower & change before departing for the airport. It seems that the hotel was very interested in taking as much money off the guests, as possible, without really providing the extras that make a holiday so special. One comment I was given was that, “We (the hotel) will not get richer if we don’t take money off the clients.” Which just about summed up the experience. Apart from that, all other aspects of the hotel were average. We will return to the area, but we will never entertain the idea of staying at the Memphis Beach Hotel again.

Was not impressed at all with this hotel 8 euros a day for air conditioning no live music or entertainment like it advertised the food was not good at all was not impressed at all the hotel is false advertising I ended up spending a fortune

I certainly was not impressed with 8 euro a night for air con, never have i had to pay in any other hotel i've stayed in, and there was no prior warning about the charge, considering the heat in Rhodes i'd have thought air con was a given, not a luxury item The shower head in our room would not stay in the bracket, it would flick up and spray the whole bathroom with water, The plumbing was terrible, i had to resort to putting buckets of water down the toilet to clear it. Food left a lot to be desired, a toaster at breakfast service would have been a nice addition. We ended up eating out most of the time, which considering we paid all inclusive was not an ideal situation. If i'd known we were going to have to spend so much extra i'd have booked a better hotel in the first place The only positives i can take away from my stay is that it was very clean and the waitresses and housekeeping were very nice, polite and cheery We liked the area Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

A middle class hotel (***) located in Kolymbia close to the beach, cafes, restaurants, supermarket, bus stops and not least the beautiful Kolymbia bay from which there are boat trips. There are two swimming pools. The cleaning is top notch and the staff is addressed on a first name basis. Especially the head receptionist, Maria, is a real mood bomb and lovable. The food is really good, varied and healthy. There is weekly musical entertainment. So what more could you want?

Hotel is very fair 3+ star. I saw there one of most polite and agile personal. Everything was clean and fair. Mixed drinks are above hotel rank. Minuses are paid air condition, food can be in some cases better (for hotel cathegory), like not properly baked bacon, some of food can be more spicy. But all is strictly fresh and good, I newer saw anything old, nonfresh, or even "reused", like can be seen in some Egypt hotels. Main pool has not good water quality in visual way, but water is disinfect and OK. For my money, i got more that I expected.

Just returned home yesterday ( july 6th) from our 10 day stay in the memphis beach.Perfect location and spotless clean. Couldn't fault the hotel itself in anyway. It's correctly rated as a 3 star so no bells and whistles. Staff are friendly and we were happy we went all inclusive as the food was lovely something for everyone. Just 3 small things I would have to point out as they were unexpected for us. We booked the standard double room that was advertised as suitable for our party of 3. It was clean and well maintained but was tiny!! It was definitely a twin room that they shoved another single bed into that made it suitable for 3 but was way too small for us. There was 1 wardrobe so we lived out of our cases as there wasn't enough space for the 3 of us. It shouldn't be sold for 3 people. Secondly the site we booked with said *air conditioned" there was air conditioning in the room but was at an extra charge of €7 a day. We had to purchase it for our full stay of 10 days as the room was extremely stuffy. It should have stated that the air conditioning was extra. Thirdly, I don't know what they add to their pool but it stained all whites yellow. Towels and swimwear are all stained and unfortunately did not come out in the wash when we got home and had to be thrown out. There was a green scum stain on the wall around the inside of the pool that makes me think whatever they add is the culprit. These are 3 things that we just noted as small negatives but did in no way effect our overall experience of the memphis beach and I would have no hesitation in retuning but would definitely upgrade to a bigger room. Also I have to recommend OKI Asian restaurant nearby the food is beautiful we ate there twice for a change from the hotel food.
