Bedspot Hostel in Fira

I reserved my individual bedroom with a bathroom inside through Booking.com.

They got in touch with me to ask when will I check-in but didn’t give me my passcode to open the door after I completed their check-in steps online promptly, and I called to ask for help when I was in front of the unit and couldn’t get in. No one picked up for a while. She called me back minutes later and basically yelled at me for a good 3 minutes and still didn’t give me the passcode.

Finally, someone came by, didn’t speak much English, wasn’t able to answer any of my questions, kept asking some unnecessary questions, and he didn’t understand what I said when I answered them. Both of them were very rude.

I pulled the curtains down to obtain some privacy because the windows are facing the front street. The curtains went down successfully but then the cables detached immediately after a single pull. The bathroom shower is not separated so it gets quite wet and overflowing after shower. I’m glad that the water didn’t flow into the bedroom.

Second day while I was having the greatest time of my life on the amazing island, I came back to use the toilet around 17:00. She entered my room while I was on the toilet and blamed me for “panicking unnecessarily” and all-capped me “WE WANTED TO CLEAN THE ROOM AND CHANGE THE TOWELS”.

Who cleans the room at 17:00?! And why didn’t she text me before entering the room?

The third day the owner was smoking and talking right outside of my door for hours since early in the morning. I was woken up by her and can smell the smoke from inside of the room and heard her talking on the phone nonstop.

They never ended up sending me the passcode after I asked multiple times. I just remembered it.

At any point of my stay, I would gladly take a refund and stay anywhere else but of course that’s not happening.

As you can see from the owner’s response, she takes no responsibility for the issues and pushed it back onto the guests. I regretted contributing my financial resource to support her business and felt unwelcome as a guest.

If you want to be treated with politeness and respect, would like to get to enter the room when you arrive, and care about your privacy, don’t stay here.
