November 2025: What a wonderful gem in the heart of Budapest. It's at Deak Ferenc ter -- about a block from the Ferris wheel (for comparison's sake). The Museum of Illusions is in the same courtyard as the hotel. Quiet, clean; friendly staff; good prices. The metro/subway is about a block away as is the fashion street. A lot of action in the area. Tons of restaurants. And the 100E Airport Express bus has a dropoff and pickup about two blocks. I would definitely stay here again.

3 nights in Budapest
Victoria was amazing! Super friendly and gave some great suggestions of things to do in the city. Hotel was centrally located and walkable to almost anything! The room was nice, however the WiFi was spotty at best and the bed wasn’t the most comfortable, but not terrible.

I don't understand why this hotel has such a high rating. It's more like a B&B than a hotel. The location and environment are average, the soundproofing is poor, and the facilities are very old. I really regret choosing this hotel.

This was such a cool concept. It’s located in an amazing part of town. The staff was very helpful and the room was very spacious. Would gladly recommend as a key place to stay while in Budapest.

The hotel is in a perfect central location. I have a couple of negatives about our booking. Although it’s called a hotel it’s not. It’s a collection of apartments on the 1st floor of a residential building. It is VERY poorly sign posted and should have been made clearer. The hotel is on the 1st floor about a souvenir shop. However access is through large double gates to which we had not been given a code. Even then you walk down a dark tunnel and need another code to get to the 1st floor. When you book this information should have been supplied so guests don’t struggle to find the hotel or gain access. There is no restaurant or bar not even a room mini bar. There are no drawers or wardrobes in a room. As such be prepared to live out of your case on the floor. Large TV although only Netflix. Double bed with a 3/4 duvet that felt like tog 1.5 Additional duvet supplied although that was for a single bed 🤷‍♂️ Coffee machine with capsules, you must ask for tea and milk. Access to the room was via a courtyard balcony which wasn’t was I was expecting. Paid in full 6 months previous yet still asked to pay another £40. Luckily I had my emails from 6 months ago. Great location but room for improvement and more clarity to customers before booking.

This hotel is truly a hidden gem and a great boutique hotel for a 3/4 day city break. Great location for seeing all the key sights, a walking tour, evening cruise and lots of bars/restaurants. Arrived early but room was already available with a bottle of champagne for our anniversary. Thanks for looking after us. We will return and won’t hesitate to recommend this hotel to others.

Happy to write a glowing review of our time at Hotel Rumor, they helped save our vacation with a last-minute booking in late October 2024. Our hostess Virag was amazing in getting us a nice, quiet comfortable room, answering questions, and giving us great tips on what to see in the city. Beyond her, the whole staff was exceptional, allowing us to store our luggage, helping with amenities, and yes, letting us in when we forgot the door code. Highly recommended. (Note: A bit hard to find, inside a narrow passage, but worth it) Great location.

Hotel Rumor offers a charming stay with a warm welcome upon arrival, even when just dropping off bags before exploring the city. While the hotel isn’t the easiest to find—tucked away on the first floor of a nondescript building—just look out for the white sign. Once inside, the room (Room 4) impressed with its lovely decor, large wardrobe, comfy bed, and clean environment. The amenities were thoughtful, including access to Netflix, a safe (with assistance from the friendly reception staff), coffee-making facilities, and a desk for any work needs. The lighting options allowed for a customizable atmosphere, and the air conditioning was a welcome relief, with no issues leaving it on during the day. However, a couple of issues marred an otherwise pleasant stay. The room wasn’t cleaned one day, which was particularly annoying due to the inefficient shower curtain that soaked the bathroom floor every time. A glass door would have been much more practical, especially when trying to be environmentally conscious with towel usage. Additionally, the button to switch between the overhead and handheld shower was quite stiff. Despite these small setbacks, Hotel Rumor is a lovely place to stay with friendly staff, and I would recommend it for a visit to Budapest.
