Reviews
The room was nice and the bed was comfortable. The only issue was that it was located right next to the common area (I think it was room number 4), so there was constant noise at night and in the early morning from people in the kitchen or going to the shower/toilet.
Personally, I would also prefer separate showers for men and women to feel more comfortable.
The decor of the hostel is special and cute. Overall I think the value for the price is very good, and I would be happy to stay there again (but in a room far from the common area).
First of all, I would like to thank the receptionist. He was extremely positive, friendly, and helpful. Even though my German is far from perfect, he understood me almost immediately and was always willing to assist. A special thank you for helping us register our electronic public transport tickets in the mobile app — that was incredibly helpful.
The hostel itself is also very interesting and full of character. One of its most unique features is the hidden mirror doors, which make the place truly memorable. The building is over 100 years old, and you can feel its history through the high ceilings, architecture, and overall atmosphere. Most of the furniture is in a retro style, which adds charm and personality to the hostel.
The facilities include everything guests might need: two shared kitchens with all the necessary cookware and utensils, two toilets, two shower rooms, and even a separate bathroom with a toilet. Everything was convenient and well-equipped.
Another thing we really appreciated was the luggage storage service. Guests can leave their bags until 8:00 PM after check-out, which allowed us to enjoy the city without carrying our luggage around. The hostel is also located not far from a beautiful park with a lake, making it a great area to explore.
We booked our stay at the last minute and chose one of the few available options in Budapest at that time. Due to our own oversight, we ended up booking a room without windows. However, this was not a major issue for us because we had spent the whole day exploring the city and fell asleep very quickly.
As a small suggestion for improvement, I would recommend installing doors with a glass panel or a small window in rooms without windows. This would allow some secondary natural light from the corridor to enter the room and make the space feel more comfortable, especially for guests who may feel uneasy in fully enclosed rooms.
Overall, we had a very positive experience and would like to thank the staff for their hospitality and helpfulness. We would gladly stay here again.
It is a special and rare experience to stay behind a hidden door while travelling, and that's just one of this location's surprises!
The kitchens are great and have a lot of utilities, the place is very calm, in a good way. The location is very clean and in a beautiful building.
Highly Recommended!
Pros: Near bus stop and metro station. Near to the popular thermal bath - Széchenyi, and tourist spots Heroes’ Square. Accommodating reception.
Things to improve: Proper ventilation and floor rug in the bathroom. Long duvet, cleaner bedsheets and duvet cover and pillow.
Overall: If you stay most of the time outside and it’s okay. Main gate always open, occupants got a key for main door but most of time it’s also open. I guess for the price, you get what you paid for.
