Hotel Monte Turri - Adults Only in Arbatax

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL! It is a scam. You pay for this hotel but they send you to the next door sister hotel which is a cheap all inclusive hotel. (Well its not all inclusive to you)
This is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in!
There is no food or drinks (not even water available) available throughout the day you need to wait until 4pm for a drink. and 7.30 pm for food you spend all day trying to find water and food!
The lift to the beach does not work so its a 1 hour round trek down a steep mountain in the soaring heat each day! No cushions on the sun loungers and full of kids.
The staff are all so unhelpful and rude!
This hotel should be closed down! they haven't even replied for a week about the complaint. I have never made a complaint to a hotel before and i travel about 12 times per year this is simple terrible! I cannot believe they can get away with this although there was only about 5 other guests to be seen all week so i guess it is on its way out!

I stayed at the Hotel Monte Turri last week for three nights. I stayed here with my mother and I myself am in my twenties. I’am a frequent traveller and this was my fifth trip to Italy in the last 18 months, I have stayed in everything from small family run hotels to 5 star and everything in between however both my mother and I have never been so let down by a hotel in our life’s. This is the strangest set up of an Italian hotel I have ever seen. It is part of a large seven hotel gated resort. The park resort has a spectacular setting. It is set on the side of a red sandstone cliff. The views from the Monte Turri are unique to anything I’ve seen on my travels before and would be hard to beat. However coming with these views is a very long hike up and down to the water, I feel that the photos on the website really miss represented the reality of this hike. I would consider myself as quite fit as I frequently run half marathons and compete in triathlons and therefore I’am not opposed to exercise. However this hike is incredibly steep and anybody who is anyway unsteady on their feet would be unable to walk down to the water. Additionally the nearest access to the sea from the hotel is via a glass elevator which has limited operating hours. However once you have completed your expedition to the sea, the water is crystal blue and clean. The hotel has a jetty set up, for access to the water which is magnificent (however ensure you bring rubber shoes as you must climb a long, vertical, steal ladder in order to exit the water. Without shoes it is painful on your feet.). Cynthia the Lifegaurd on the jetty is a great addition, she was incredibly friendly and made us feel safe while swimming. The resort has live stock running wild through it, this was a very nice touch. Despite the views impressive from the resort, unfortunately the same cannot be said for the port town of Arbatax. I cannot blame the Park resort for how unpleasant this warehouse / ship building yard dotted town is, as I didn’t do my research thoroughly enough and this is my own fault. Upon check in to the hotel my mother and I were shown to our room. We were disappointed to say the least when we discovered the view from our balcony was a concrete wall with a drain pipe flowing down over it. Prior to arrival we had emailed and requested a twin room as opposed to a doable room. The hotel had responded to us and told us this request would be meet. However the room was not set up as requested and resulted in both of us sitting in the reception for an hour while they set up the room for us. The air conditioning in this hotel is unacceptably poor for a hotel this price in Italy. I have stayed in lodges in jungle in Central America with better air conditioning than this place. I struggled to sleep every night. As mentioned in a previous review of the Monte Turri, I don’t know what the cause of this would be but the sheets in the place are damp. This was not pleasant. We booked the hotel for 5nights (b&b). When we arrived we've got a room 626 in the garden. This room was really horrible. The airco was dripping on our faces/matrasses. The bed we not good. It was just a iron frame with bad matrasses. The room was unpractical and VERY dark. And there were big insects (1000-leg) crawling around in the small bathroom. We payed over 200euro/night for 2persons (bed and breakfast) to get a room like this... We never had this on any of our trips and we go 3 times a year on vacation.

When we complained, the staf and management were really friendly. They wanted to help and the manager gave us a room for 3nights in the main hotel (room18). This room was good, the bed was better, it smelled better and the bathroom was more practical.
The last night we had to change to another room in the garden (R622). This was bigger/lighter but it was still one of the most unpractical bathrooms I have ever been.

I had the feeling that we payed for accommodation (big beautiful park with well cared animals, nice pools, nice sea with chairs, handy chipcards, wifi) then we did for the room. But this was not the impression that we got from the website and the ***** and this was not the meaning of our vacation. When we go on vacation we expect nice accommodation but ALSO good rooms.

The rooms need to be cheaper or they need a big renovation (better airco, better and more practical closed and tables, BETTER beds, different/more practical doors in bathroom). We've been to accommodations with no stars and the rooms were better.

Staff was friendly and helpful (nice reception staff, sweet bartender, bagage guys are friendly, management is empathic, animation is funny, VERY sweet cleaning ladies), there are beautiful animals and the nice dog Bella at the reception stole my hart. But the rooms are to bad and really expensive for a very low comfort. They don't deserve the four stars.
