Hotel Stella Maris in Villasimius

A very nice hotel with a beautiful beachfront location. The water is very pleasant and clear, and there are no jellyfish! The food always pleasantly surprises me, and the staff are very polite and friendly. The rooms are certainly adequate, though not the most attractive.

Beach, shallow, warm and crystal clear sea
Nice pool and gardens
Food
Most members of staff

Not so good:
Restaurant service is slow, especially at breakfast
Service can also be very haphazard
Cost, food and drink is expensive
Lack of electrical sockets in room
Dressing table has no mirror or adequate lighting

Bad:
Beware of their VIP package. We took this and had nothing but problems with it.

It states:
A welcome drink upon arrival to kickstart an exceptional stay.
This was not offered.

One bottle of wine per day from our selection of recommended wines, allowing you to savor the flavors of the region.
We were given a slip of paper to use in the restaurant which does say one bottle of wine per day. First night was fine but on the second night we were told by the restaurant manager the offer was one bottle per stay. He refused to accept that it was one per day (even though it was written down) and became very rude and aggressive saying it was not his problem and told us we had to pay for the wine. We went to reception, the lady on there did sort it out but once we were seated back in the restaurant he approached us again, being very much in our face and aggressive. No apology from him for his misunderstanding. From then on we did get one bottle per day but felt uneasy going into the restaurant. The reception manager said he would investigate, apologised but concluded it was just a misunderstanding

Two rejuvenating massages to relax and pamper yourself during your stay.
From choice we did not have this

Unlimited access to the minibar to ensure you stay refreshed throughout your visit.
This is not a mini bar, it is an empty fridge in the room, topped up daily with two small bottles of water. When we asked for more we were told it would be an extra charge. Again we had to point out it states “unlimited” and the fridge was then topped up with enough bottles every day. However on check out the extra bottles had been added to our bill (we did get this refunded)

Airport transfers to and from the hotel for a seamless and comfortable journey.
The driver on our journey from the hotel asked to be paid, we told him it was included with the hotel which he accepted but he should have been made aware in the first place

Priority seating in the front row on our stunning beach, offering unmatched views and relaxation.
This was the only thing that went okay. The lifeguards on the beach did not question this and we had front row each time we went to the beach

The purpose of this long review is for you to be aware that staff need extra awareness training of the terms of the VIP package. The problems we had with it made us feel on edge and uncomfortable every time we used the offer.
Overall we enjoyed our stay but unfortunately because of the issues we will not return

Very nice place, view is fantastic. We booked a suite from last year but we got the wrong one. Thanks God we could change nest day. Beach and Garden are fantastic. Price for drinks a bit too high - we would drink more aperol spritz if the prices would be more the average of Villasimius and not almost double. But however - we can recommend this place as it is one of the best location in South Sardegna

From the incredible beach and surrounding scenery to the delicious dinner every evening, we loved it all. Special mention to Gianni, Silvio and Marco ( new addition) in the restaurant and the fantastic chefs. Housekeeping worked very hard to keep everything spotless and the gardens and pool and beach areas really clean and well kept. A very big thank you to Flora and all the team in Reception who were so helpful with our enquiries. Looking forward to coming back next year. Grazie mille !

Amazing reception staff, amazing colors bistro staff! Beautiful facility and access to the beach!

A stunning oceanside setting with warm, crystal clear water. It was an incredibly peaceful and relaxing place. The property was beautiful and well-maintained and the staff was engaged and helpful.

Unfortunately I only give it a four star because of the service we received from a couple of the staff. Some staff were very miserable no matter how nice you were to them. Also we had all our luggage stolen in Pisa just before our flight to Sardinia and once we arrived to the hotel at midnight with no belongings or bags, not one person during our 12 day stay there had offered us assistance or a discount on something, or a credit to the spa for what we had been through. Coming from Canada and our dollar being so weak, we paid so much for 11 night stay here, the least they could have done was offer even a dinner for one night. The beds were very uncomfortable and the pillows were hard. The rooms are extremely small for three people. We had an ocean view but blocked by a palm tree, still very nice. The hotel is not big at all, but close to Villasimius so you can go there to shop and try different restaurants. Now onto the good, the hotel is very clean, and the garden to the beach is well kept and pretty. The beach is beautiful, warm water, white sand, and no rocks. Sardinia is a stunning island, I guess you pay high to stay directly on the beach, but well worth it.
