Not great value for money, and a disappointing experience with booking and management.

The hotel is well located for skiing, but beyond the lovely nature and trails, there’s not much to do—especially if you don’t have a car. Public transport access is long and difficult. My room, though cozy, was quite cramped, with little space to move or work comfortably.

The spa facilities are limited in hours (15:00–19:30) and require prior booking, which didn’t align with the relaxing experience one expects. The spa itself consists of two jacuzzis and a dry sauna—no steam room working during my visit.

Breakfast was average and repetitive, with almost no vegetables and the same options daily. While the staff seemed competent, the overall hospitality was lacking warmth. Rose and another young lady at breakfast was a bright spot.

The lobby is charming, and there are games and a ski room available, which are nice touches.

Unfortunately, my experience was marred by a lack of empathy from management. I booked impulsively while unwell and tried to cancel well in advance, providing medical documentation and seeking support via Booking.com. Despite several requests and proof of a medical emergency, the hotel refused a refund or any meaningful flexibility. Even when I spoke directly with the manager, I was met with a condescending tone and repeated dismissal. While I eventually rescheduled and traveled while still unwell, the human aspect was completely missing.

This rigid, profit-driven approach—especially in a hospitality setting—left a sour impression. A bottle of wine and some chocolates were offered, but that didn’t change the core issue: zero empathy and a poor handling of a customer in crisis.

What a wonderful hotel. We stayed for 5 nights. The staff were really helpful and friendly . Very clean. Super powerful shower. Close to the lifts to get up the mountain. Would definitely recommend.

It is clean/ close to funivie/ breakfast fine/ service fine. Didn't try spa, but shower worked very well, so I expect it to work as well. Would I run back? I suppose not, since I don't plan to go back to La Thuile, but if I go back, I would stay there.

Great hotel - very close to the ski lifts . Cheerful and helpful staff. Good breakfast, comfortable rooms . The hotel doesn’t offer dinners but there is a very good lounge where you can have a drink, play cards etc and bring in a take away pizza . There are good restaurants within 5-10 mins walk

Nice hotel ideally located within a few minutes' walk from the main ski lift. Clean well-appointed rooms, nice breakfast and overall friendly and very helpful staff. Indoor private parking available with electric charger points if required. Would definitely recommend and will be going again next year. Note: Only negative is the hotel doesn't have a restaurant so you cant stay there for your evening meal. However there is a nice restaurant immediately next door, alternatively you can go into town which is a very short distance.

We had a really good stay at the Boton D’Or. The staff were so kind and helpful - over and above what we’ve experienced elsewhere. They ask you to book a breakfast time and also reserve a time to use the spa facilities, which struck me as odd when we arrived but that actually makes for a much more relaxing stay than otherwise. The breakfast was varied and of good quality. The rooms were very tidy, with good soundproofing (not that it was needed as the hotel was quiet when we were there). The ski lifts and the hire shop were an easy 5 mins walk from the hotel, but it is 20 mins or so walk from most restaurants apart from the the one next door. The highlight, however, was the staff who couldn’t have been more helpful.

An ideal hotel for a short break skiing. Staff delightful and friendly and with a very short walk of the ski lifts. Rooms were clean and well stocked and in excellent condition and we particularly liked the power shower.Would highly recommend and will be back in future years.
