Antica Masseria Martuccio in Mesagne

After all the positive reviews about this place we were looking forward to relaxing after two weeks traveling in Puglia. Unfortunately it wasn’t what we expected. The Masseria looks amazing and in a very beautiful location. First of all there’s men, possibly owners, just hanging around in the reception and bar, all day and night, very strange. When we checked in we were just shown to our room, no mention of dinner reservations, where to go for breakfast, pool area, history of the Masseria or anything. We wanted to relax by the pool but unfortunately there were weddings on both days which means the pool area is closed to hotel guests from 2pm to 4pm. We were informed about this but it didn’t suit and we couldn’t cancel booking. Our room was big with a great balcony overlooking the pool area. But it needed some repairs, good clean and updating. Advertised Sky TV was broke, shower leaked everywhere, toilet broken, and loose electrical cables where the balcony lights used to be. Unfortunately dinner was hit and miss. You must choose your dinner before 5pm and sit down between 7 and 8pm. Choice of meat or fish each night. On night one two courses were sent back as they were freezing cold. On night two fish was served even though we ordered meat 3hours ago?? Impossible to get wrong but hey. The management were there hanging around as usual but didn’t acknowledge food going back. It looks like this place is geared up for weddings as it is a spectacular location and wedding venue but it seems the hotel guests come second.
