Thank you to Paulo for all of your help during our too brief stay. We really noted it all and your directions and recommendations were invaluable!
Located just inside the old town and 5 minutes walk from the ancient area.   Generous size room and excellent breakfast.   Perfect for visiting this special town.
Staff very helpful, location great for restaurants and the Sassi. Rooms are very modern and well designed.
Excellent location and beautiful modern rooms. Good communication. From the hotel location you can walk without stairs all the way to Piazza San Pietro Caveoso.
Parking & GPS terrible but good location. If you have a carcthe parkinf situationnisvpretty terrible & GPS doesn’t tell you it’s on a pedestrian street. Can only unload your luggag 2-4 pm without dragging from a parking garage seversl blocks away( which btw costs 50 euros per night). That said, good location, not the best breakfast we had…. Run by a young staff, coukd use some maturity in that arena...
Very well located, in the center área, cars not allowed but paid parking is within walking distance. Friendly staff and city is a must see. Different from everything I have ever seen.

Staying here is part of truly experiencing the city. The room was uniquely designed—modern yet cozy. The bed was incredibly comfortable, perfect for recovering after a long day of exploring.
Hotel built into a cave. Great location, fabulous spacious room and great breakfast. Highly recommend
Fantastic stay! Beautiful hotel with an amazing vista! Fantastic breakfast and staff!
I went to a private cooking class here with my family. The entire experience was perfect from beginning to end. We learned how to roll pasta and watched Chef Mario cook in the kitchen all while his sister Elena was rolling pasta the whole time. Chef Mario’s food was the best food I have ever had in my life, and I have eaten at a lot of places. They were extremely kind and welcoming. I cannot wait to...
We found the restaurant spontaneously walking through the charming streets of Matera and we couldn’t have had better luck! The restaurant sits in a cozy area with wonderful views, yet it brings elegance to the table. Our waiter, Tino, took care of us with such a care that we felt we are at a private dinning diner. The food was very delicious and each meal had the “wow” effect. Highly highly recommended
The food was absolutely beautiful and incredibly tasty! Our waiter Tino was so kind and attentive, and really contributed to the whole experience. We felt taken care of from start to finish. The view is the cherry on top. A wonderful evening all around – truly a place worth every recommendation!🫶🏼

A beautiful place! We had an amazing sassi room with all the historic charm plus modern, comfortable amenities including a bathtub. Staff is amazing too, so helpful and friendly. They gave us great recommendations for restaurants, made the reservations and made sure we had a great experience there. Wonderful breakfast!
The staff were so incredibly kind and helpful. Our room was impeccable and in a great location. The breakfast was everything you could ever ask for with excellent service.
I can’t say enough wonderful things about Conche Luxury Retreat, it’s gorgeous, truly unique, and Carla, the owner, is the best host imaginable. My mom celebrated her 70th birthday there, and Carla went above and beyond to make it an unforgettable experience. The location couldn’t be more perfect, with everything within walking distance, including several amazing restaurants. The room was spectacular...

The location is in the heart of the city . This palace is beautiful, our room was spacious, staff were extremely helpful and friendly and the roof top patio provided amazing views. Highly recommend
Our experience at this hotel was nothing short of magnificent! From the moment we arrived we were treated like VIPs! The staff was incredibly helpful, kind, and professional every moment of our stay. The place is centrally located and accessible to all different tourists areas. Staff are very friendly and accommodating.
The location is great and the facilities are clean and great. The only downside was that the heater was broken, making it difficult to sleep.
The hotel is in a great location to explore Matera, and some of the rooms are in actual caves (it's a great experience for a night or two) without windows. These rooms are very nice and have a good spacious shower. Some rooms are not in the check-in building and so a walk down some stone steps may be required.
This beautiful Boutique hotel was right in town centre. Matera is so unique everyone must go there. The hotel's location was excellent, breakfast fabulous and staff were friendly and helpful
Charming hotel in Matera Great stay, clean, close to everything. Nice room but no windows because they are in a grotta in the old town. Be aware you need to walk from the lobby to the rooms and there are stairs to get there (don’t bring heavy luggage)
Without window the rooms are not nice however its fine. Rest we enjoyed our stay in Matera. Rooms are in different pathway where you have to go down using stairs. If you are old then it might be an big issue but location is center and you don’t have to take an bus to go further.

We had a really nice stay! We have stayed before and now the room (same room) was even nicer! The breakfast was better the last time.
Amazing room (had room with jacuzzi), nice staff. Would be nice if they have free shuttle, because it's forbidden to go by car to the hotel. For taxi they charging 15eur
We absolutely loved our stay. Very attentive before our arrival, arranging our parking and shuttle to the hotel. Once at the hotel the staff was so kind and friendly and offered recommendations. The room itself was better than expected and the buffet breakfast had a great selection. Best of all, it was quiet at night allowing us to actually get a good nights sleep.
Beautiful boutique hotel in Matera Beautiful property. Rooms with an extraordinary view. Shower is amazing and the bed very comfortable. The private spa is super cool. Delicious breakfast. We had an amazing stay and hope to be back one day. Thanks to Ivana, Samir and Mario for a wonderful experience at Cenobio hotel.
The actual hotel/room didn't quite live up to the photos or descriptions; it definitely wasn't the cave-style depicted but rather quite modern. Located on a hill, the hotel is impossible to find using GPS. We had to call the front desk, and it took a long time for them to understand and send someone to collect us. Be prepared for many stairs. If you plan to stay here, I'd strongly advise against bringing...
For a four-star hotel, the room facilities are not adequate. More tableware and space for placing items could be provided. Because you need to walk in SASSI, the breakfast is great.

Perfectly located with stunning views Perfect location if you are driving. You can park out of the ZLT and walk 5-10min to the hotel without having to go up and down the hill. The views from my room were unreal and the receptionist Vivian was super nice with her recommendations
For a memorable night or weekend, this is an exceptional place to stay. Close to the town centre and with breathtaking views over Matera, it's well worth a visit. The room was clean, spacious and very stylish. We only suffered from the air conditioning which didn't seem to work and cool the whole room, while it was extremely hot during our stay. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The person...
Matera is beautiful & I loved my time there but the room allocated was not. It was very spacious but had no downstairs windows, only the tiny mezzanine floor above did. The aircon was set at 26 degrees which was complained about twice & nothing done. I have also never stayed anywhere and had to complain about no cold water in the shower or bathroom taps. The shower cabinet was held together with a...
Stayed in this fascinating hotel in Matera for 3 nights. Our room was in one of the old cisterns carved out of the limestone. While not luxurious, the unique aspect of being in a cave more than made up for any lack of facilities. Matera itself was astonishing - truly exceptional place to visit. Great local restaurants, too, all full of character.
It was quite an experience staying in a cave hotel! It's not easy to retrofit facilities in a cave so don't expect luxurious bathrooms or decor. The rooms are scattered somewhat and there are lots of steps, like much of Matera so don't stay here if you have mobility issues. Having said that the rooms were adequate for our needs and the breakfast was nice if a bit busy at peak times. Overall we really...

Masseria Fontana di Vite, Matera1 / 27

Matera, Contrada Fontana di Vite (6 km from centre) 🧭 Map
Beautiful masseria, nearby Matera. The drawback of the central location is that the place feels more touristy rather than authentic, when compared to other masseria's. The room was good, however it couldn't get chill inside, even with the AC on Power the whole night. The breakfast was ok, choices were limited, fruit juice was not freshly made.
Just magic. The experience at Masseria Fontana di Vite is unique. I was pampered the whole weekend in one of the most romantic and authentic place I have ever been in my life. Food is so good and the service perfect. Highly suggested.
What a beautiful place! Our first encounter was with Francesco who is warm and welcoming. He showed us to our room and told us about the history of the hotel. We had two fantastic dinners at the hotel. The chef is amazing!! I read about the food before we got here and boy, it didn't disappoint! Our favorite person was Erasmo! Like their young talented chef, if they can keep Erasmo! Full of knowledge...
A fantastic little spot. Really excellent service from the family (our flight was 3 hours late and they were there at 1:30am) to welcome us to our large, well air conditioned (was 36 degrees) room. Nice breakfast, full of local produce. Definitely need a car if you want to explore the area
Wide view of the endless fields next to Matera. This old farm has been converted in an idealistic hotel that is just starting. Loved the big rooms with old furniture together with more modern accents. The pool is very good, but the big score of this hotel is an even better breakfast. Most products come from the farm it self! Hope to see them soon, definitely coming back!
Charming Masseria in the middle of the countryside. Well-appointed and equipped rooms. Great staff, attentive and courteous. Quality dishes are served in the restaurant, and the service is efficient. Breakfast misses a hot option though. The owners add a nice presence. The only downside concerns the price which seems a bit over what you would expect for this standing. Would definitely still recommend

If you’re looking for a truly unique and memorable experience. I highly recommend staying at Casale di Maria in Matera. Domenica goes above and beyond with her attentive and welcoming service.
