Hotel Mignon in Trieste

A very very old hotel. No air condicioned, no carpet in restroom, forniture cracked and disrupted. No common room where to stay when outsider si too hot. At breakfast only bread is fresh, anything else no. Looks like a dismissed youth hotel. But prices ain't those of a youth hotel! It costs too much. Last but not list: we're requested to pay in advance for all our stay, before we could sede tour microscopic and bowling room🤣. Of course they do! Unless clients will run away to another hotel!

I‘d give negative stars if I could. We never stayed at this hotel because when we arrived at the locked, dilapidated, haunted house looking hotel we called to see if we were at the right place. The woman who answered the phone said she only spoke Italian and then asked if we had a reservation. I said yes and tried to spell our name and then she hung up on me and wouldn’t answer the phone again. Nothing like being stranded in a foreign country where the hotel doesn’t speak English or German (my husband speaks both). We made other arrangements thru Airbnb but this hotel charged us a „no show“ fee of $130.00! When we tried to get our money refunded from booking.com, they said the hotel made the charge and they can’t help. They both suck!

The rooms are in need of deep refurbishment. The door doesn't have a real lock (a pass-par-tout key is given, meaning every guest can open every room at any time. The toilet had new tiles sticked cheaply on the top of existing ones. No air-conditioning. The location is very nice. Overall a business that is neither maintained nor the owner is actively investing into since decades.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stay!! The whole building stinks and the room smells like cesspit (combination of smell of toilet and sink). It is near the ICTP guesthouse and for some reason they recommend it to us but you have to STAY AWAY and choose another hotel if you are a visitor of ICTP!! We have to sleep with an open window during November in order to prevent ourselves from vomiting until the third day when we check out!! They forced us to pay for 4 days instead of 2 even if we complained about the room!! It should have been closed for hygienic reasons!!

Our room was not cleaned properly and the surfaces were dirty. Everything was old and dilapidated and there was no hot water in the sink. The towels were thin cotton sheets that were barely usable. The shower had a problem with the drainage and flooded the bathroom. The only good thing was the coffee and the owners are nice. It's too expensive for what it offers.
