+ Very strategic location: Termini station and many tourist attractions are within a 20-minute walk (Colosseum, Forum Romano, Trevi), the nearest metro station is around the corner - easy connection to the Vatican or the Spanish Steps + in the middle of the imposing Monti district with many small traditional restaurants + late arrivals are not a problem, luggage room at the reception, elevator (small) till the last floor, nice roof terrace + rooms (double) are small and simple but very clean, with simple tea-making facilities + family rooms for travelers with children + reasonable breakfast, attentive staff + value for money, very solid 3* hotel - rooms are not well soundproofed - not the best coffee for breakfast...

Very friendly staff and well positioned to see all the sites. The room was clean, maybe a little small but that said we only slept in it. Breakfast was good and there were plenty of restaurants to choose from within a 15 min walk. We only spent three days in Rome so we will return and probably book again!

Fantastic hotel in Rome Situated a 5 minute stroll from The Colosseum and 5 minutes from Termini. Nice district - plenty of restaurants and bars close by but still quiet. Great hotel for the money. Warm, comfortable and an excellent welcome from all staff. Breakfast was buffet style but plentiful and excellent. A mix of pastries, continental, hams and cheese, eggs and hot options and absolutely fabulous croissants.

We stayed in this hotel for a week and loved every minute of it. The staff GIgi , Lorenzo and Virgilio were very hospitable , helpful , humble and friendly. Espresso ,croissant and cake whilst we were checking in. Room was spacious for a family of four . Toilets cleaned regularly and any query (if any) resolved by these guys straightaway. Staff were very kind and gave us good tips about travel and food and some quick language tips . They really made the trip 5 star. Colosseum is around the corner , you can literally see it on your left from the first traffic lights if you turn right coming out of the hotel. Most of the attractions are 15 to 20 minutes walk and Termini train station is 10 to 15 minutes walk. We will definitely come back and stay here we felt so much comfortable and looked after.

We stayed at Hotel Borromeo for 10 nights on a family vacation (2 adults, 2 kids). We were in a family suite (two-person bed plus two twin beds in a large room). Housekeeping came by daily. The hotel’s web site did not provide a way to reserve without advance payment of the whole reservation, although that can be done at substantially higher rates through sites like ***********. We took a gamble on pre-paying and it worked for us, so we can’t speak to the feasibility of getting money back on cancellation. The room rate booked through the hotel also includes some sort of travel insurance (which again we didn’t need to try to use). Staff were very responsive by email when we had a question about payment right after booking. Our room (no. 212) was tastefully decorated with one small window looking out over a courtyard. Curtains and shutters were very good at keeping out light. Some other rooms apparently do not have windows, which could be problematic as there were several few-minute power outages during our stay (we presume due to excess load on Rome’s electrical grid during the heat wave). Other reviews have noted that the Metro line runs right under the hotel. We heard it occasionally, but on the 2nd floor it was barely noticeable over the air conditioner. Our room was pretty large considering this is a downtown hotel in a major European tourist city. Amenities include a fridge (it didn’t cool very well) and small tv. There are wall outlets by each bed so we had no problems keeping all our devices charged. Bathroom has a bathtub with a handheld shower head. Only liquid soap was provided (in dispensers), had to use our own shampoo and conditioner. AC works efficiently but doesn’t reach into the bathroom very well. A full length mirror in the hotel room was very helpful for checking our outfits. Front desk staff were very kind and friendly and our 9 year old especially had a great rapport with one of them. They gave both of our kids souvenir keys with the hotel name on them. The lobby is elegant and relaxing, with a tv (usually showing news), vending machine and a tiny bar (not sure of its hours). We found one of the best features of the hotel to be the free breakfast provided on the rooftop terrace. Both indoor and outdoor tables are available with nice views of the street. There is an assortment of pastries, sliced meats, yogurt, cereal, eggs and juices as well as an espresso machine. The hotel location is excellent: only a 10 minute walk from Termini station in one direction, and just a bit further to major attractions (Colosseum, Forum) in the other. Via Cavour and the parallel Via Urbana have a number of good restaurants, and there are more a few minutes’ walk away near Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, itself a major tourist attraction.
