Hotel Sole Roma

I stayed here with a school group that have been staying in this hotel every year for nearly thirty years. We have an established relationship with them. It was beautiful. The hotel is in a wonderful and convenient area. We loved to walk to dinner and to museums. We even walked from here to Vatican City for mass. It is a great location. However. I rate is so low because nearly every member of our group had something stolen from them. The hotel staff wouldn't help, likely because they were benefiting from it. When we finally got fed up, girls started opening cleaning closets. A lot of missing clothing, including bras who the hell steals used bras, were found in the closets. Our relationship over time didn't matter. It didn't protect us from thieves.

Honestly I would possibly still stay here because of the location. But be careful with your stuff. Even clothing is fair game to them.

Let's start with one of the only good things about this hotel: it is in a good location. Sole Roma is right next to Campo del Fiori, and the walk to major attractions is not very long. Additionally, it has a courtyard and roof garden that are both pleasant to sit in. The hotel is fine if you need a place to stay for a night or two in Rome, and if you are not looking for a nice hotel.
I was I a group that stayed in the hotel for 2 weeks, so collectively we were able to observe a lot about the experience. Our consensus was that it was the worst hotel we stayed in during our 5 week trip. They tried to cram three people into a room made for a queen sized bed, the air conditioning was either broken or extremely weak in most of the rooms during the hottest part of the year, the housekeeping turned the air conditioning off when they visited our rooms, my bed at least slid all over the box spring at night, my shower head was broken for most of the stay, and the wifi was extremely unreliable. The hotel breakfast is, again, fine for a short stay, but a small collection of low quality food. I don't believe the hotel has a kitchen because nothing was made fresh or hot. They kept their milk in an unrefrigerated cabinet near the ground for the duration of the breakfast service.
Also, and this is the worst part, several people in our group noticed clothing and considerable amounts of money going missing during the last few days of our stay. I would advise you not to let the housekeeping clean your rooms, just get clean towels. The keys to all the rooms are kept in cubbies at the front desk, so virtually anyone can access them. It is not under strict watch.
We did not have a good experience and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone needing to stay more than a night or two.
