B&B Pepito in Cefalu

This was one of the worst stays I have ever had. This is not a normal place, they have multiple rooms in an apartment so they literally converted each room to a b&b, and some rooms don’t even have a toilet but an external one. Ours luckily had it but it was far from decent. We arrived and no one even knew of our arrival, we could not get in touch with the host. After dialing a lot of numbers and stressing, we got in touch with someone and found the keys. No one did our check in or anything like that. You have to climb multiple stairs. The room was terrible, outdated, dirty looking and uncomfortable. There were not even shower gels or anything in the room. In the morning when we were “checking out”, their cleaning lady asked us for tourist tax which we had already paid to booking.com and because my boyfriend is naive, he paid it without questioning. I absolutely don’t recommend anyone to stay here.

No elevator. Rooms are on 2nd or 3rd floor. We reserved on Booking and when we told the owner we weren’t happy with the room - he tried to make us pay for one night in cash even though this is not Booking’s policy. He even grabbed my husbands arm to prevent us from leaving and was speaking very loudly to us. I would not recommend!

My wife booked a room for 2 days and the room was not at all what the listing showed. The room had empty cartons and motorcycle helmets, more like a storage room. Then he proceeded to show us the defects: the necessity to pound on the wall 15-20 seconds in order to flush the toilet, etc.

The room wasn’t pleasant, but the deciding factor for why we didn’t stay was the demeanor of the person who showed us the place. He wanted us to cancel the booking reservation and pay him directly in cash. This was after he demanded that we go up 4 flights of stairs to meet him, then was surly, rude and antagonistic when we asked questions. I didn’t feel that it was a safe place to be. When he started yelling to make his points we decided to leave, and he physically grabbed my arm to restrain me and moved in front of the door.

After we left and secured another place I read the reviews in more detail. There are numerous other 1 and 2 star reviews of similar actions and misbehaviors.

Beware.

I reached out to the host, who acknowledged that the listing was inaccurate, yet no action was taken to resolve the situation. I decided to cancel my reservation due to the dishonesty of the listing, and despite not staying at the property, I did not receive any refund, which I find unacceptable. I would not recommend this place to anyone, as it’s clear that transparency and honesty are not priorities for the hosts. #DishonestyIsUnacceptable

I contacted the host, who acknowledged the inaccuracies in the listing and if the description is not aligned with reality the place lose credibility and there is no conditions to proceed in any negotiation.

So, I decided to cancel my reservation due to the discrepancy between the description and the reality. Although I did not stay at the property, I did not receive a refund, which I consider a negative aspect.

I am not the only one who has had issues with this place, as there have been other complaints about the same misrepresentation. I would not recommend this place to others, as I believe transparency and clear information are essential for a good experience.

My wife and I stayed overnight on New Year's Eve 2024. I had booked this property trusting the reviews of other guests. Unfortunately I had to change my mind for various reasons: television, bidet shower and small refrigerator not working; rather approximate cleaning of common areas; rather old-fashioned structure and located on the second and a half floor without elevator. Probably a more assiduous presence of the owner (whom we have not met at all) could improve the level of the structure in the future,
