What a special place! This is a small, simple inn in a quiet but walkable area of the city. Georgio has created an oasis with his garden and orange trees in the back. We enjoyed breakfast under the canopy both mornings. He was always there, eager to help out with our daily plans. Definitely do chocolate tastings in Modica and we wished we had used the cute little tourist train to see all the houses. The inn is at the top of the hill which we felt was a less tourisity area. We walked everywhere except for one night when we ate across town. Modica has amazing restaurants. Shout out to Ornato which is across town and Locanda del Colonnello, which is a short walk from the inn. Note that Giorgio does not speak English but he manages to communicate, and his daughter can always come over and translate. Also, Modica is a place to experience a small and personal hotel. They seem to lack anything really upscale -- we were looking for a fancy hotel lobby for drinks but did not see anything worth dressing up for.

The building is utterly charming and full of history, the rooms very comfortable, the breakfast features homemade delicacies, and the garden is a delight. The proprietors, Giorgio and his daughter Giulia, were ever ready with helpful suggestions and assistance. Complimenti! Mike and I have never felt so welcome and at home while traveling. . .
