Hotel Astoria in Garda

Excellent hotel, rooms are brand next, breakfast amazing , location a50 meters got the lake, shops and many restaurants . Beautiful

This hotel was perfectly situated for exploring Garda and the surrounding area. Staff were very friendly and helpfull at all times. We felt very relaxed and at home in the hotel and although the rooms are quite small the roof terrace provides superb views of the lake and a lovely place to sit or sunbathe. We would definitely stay in this hotel again if we came back to Garda.

The Astoria is a small hotel in the perfect location right on the main promenade in Garda. The room was a bit small but we didn’t spend much time in it so perfectly adequate, always very clean. The breakfast was really good and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The only negative is that there is no lift/elevator so moving cases up stairs was a bit of a workout. Ok, there is no pool as you would expect this close to the lake but a really nice balcony to sit especially in the evening listening to concerts in the piazza below. Would definitely recommend this hotel .

The hotel Astoria, Garda, was a perfect location for our first visit to Lake Garda. Although the room was small (there wasn’t enough room to get easy access into our suitcases without constantly stepping over them). It was good enough for our one week stay. We were on the first floor and unfortunately there was no lift. We found this quite difficult as my husband has severe arthritis in his neck and carrying suitcases up a fight of stairs wasn’t good. The staff were all very friendly and polite, the hotel was very clean. What made this hotel was the perfect location. It has a communal balcony with tables, chairs and sun loungers (there is no pool), which overlooks the municipal area where a stage is set out for live music. The was also a ‘Beerfest’ while we were there with street food and a DJ. There are plenty of bars and restaurants along the front with a great variety of Italian cuisine on offer (especially the gelato 🍦🍨🍧) There is easy access (3 minute walk) to the ferry station with boats leaving to the other towns on the lake. There is also a short walk, again about 3 minutes to the local bus station with buses running to various locations. There is also a lovely walk around the lake (about 5k to Bardolino) this continues around the lake to other towns, we didn’t walk any further. Although there is no pool at this hotel one of our fellow guests regularly went swimming in the lake. There are a few areas within walking distance were you can use sun beds (they are NOT beaches, but constructed pebbled areas) and access the water. There are plenty of shops selling beautiful leather goods, clothes and souvenirs (shop around the quality can vary as does the price) There was a beautiful craft market on the Saturday and Sunday. We stayed here as part of a Newmarket escorted tour holiday. We had several day trips (Milan, Verona, Venice and Parma) without these I don’t know if there is enough locally to keep you entertained. We traveled on the 3rd September and the weather was mostly good. Day temperatures around 25 - 28°C and blue skies, although some evenings sitting near the lake when the sun had gone down it was cool enough to need a light cardigan or wrap. We had one morning with rain but that cleared quite quickly, but the day we flew home the rain was torrential. We both thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend the hotel because of it location, even with the issues described, as a base for our holiday it was perfect.

Hotel common areas were very nice and the staff were very helpful and knowledgeable in how to travel around the lake.

Perfect location, right in the centre of everything,staff where extremely helpful and friendly. We had room with a balcony, huge bed, spotlessly clean,and bed linen was changed three times in 10 days . Only negative comment I would make was, Breakfast was limited, not a lot of choices in comparison to other hotels we stayed in in Garda. But would definitely stay here again.

We had a lovely few days here. If you want a fancy hotel with all the bells and whistles, then this place probably isn't for you. However, if you want somewhere in a fantastic central location, with friendly staff, a good breakfast and somewhere that is clean and welcoming, I would recommend thoroughly. The terrace upstairs is a great addition and was always quiet and relaxed. Overall, a great place to explore the lake and we hope to be back.
