Hotel Sole Malcesine in Malcesine

We enjoyed our week in hotel amazing views from our room on 6 th floor and pool area and terrace of restaurant. All staff were friendly efficient and very helpful. good location looking over lake and mountains. walk thru underpass to promenade and lake where there lakeside beaches to swim off which we so enjoyed doing so. We liked to go for a walk along in evening also very clean did not see litter on ground. Our room was a good size clean with good air conditioning as very hot outside kept us cool. Bus stop right opposite to Malcesine which is beautiful . We enjoyed swimming in pool cleaned regularly. Also enjoyed jacuzzi and sauna. Only complaint would be food. Breakfast had plenty to choose from. Lunch had salads and couple of hot dishes bread rolls but no cold meat or cheeses. Dinner needed to get down when opens as hot food tends to go quickly and not always replenished but overall had enough choices to please us. This is not a 5 star hotel but offers good value for money in beautiful location.

I was apprehensive about booking this hotel after reading some shoking reviews, but on the whole it was not that bad and there is only one issue that would prevent me from returning. Location - Small hotel with just over 200 beds. On the northern shore of lake Garda. The transfer from Verona took almost 2 hours fue to numerous drop off points so my first tip is book a private transfer to the hotel. The bus stops are right outside the hotel and it's only 2 Euros to get into Malcesine town centre. Plenty of parking if one is driving and this is charged at 5€ per day. Appearance - Generally pretty good all round, I could be picky about poor paint work or scuffed doors, but there was nothing evident that prevented me enjoying my stay. Pools/Grounds - The hotel does not have any real grounds to speak off, and the pool was smallish and cleaned daily. As it was not huge the water warmed up nicely by the early afternoon. Pool towels can be obtained from reception subject to a 10€ deposit, which is returned when you leave. Beach - The hotel has a tunnel under the main road which leads to the lake Garda shoreline. There are several pebble Beach areas to sunbathe and loads of water sports going on. As the beach areas are all public there are no beds or umbrellas belonging to the hotel. However we really enjoyed walking along the shire line to see the lake from different prospectives. Staff - We found all the staff, warm friendly and helpful. Reception helped us with bus times and recommended places to visit. When I contacted the hotel prior to arrival I asked specifically for a quite room and they responded immediately with a confirmation which was impressive. Bedroom - Our room looked like it had been recently refurbished and had 2 single beds pushed together. That said we did both have a good nights sleep. The room has a good air con system and a free safe. It also had a fridge which was never filled with anything and a colour TV which had 100s of channels but we could not find one in English. Bathroom - The bathroom was a good size, and had very high quality fluffy towels which were changed daily. The room also had a hairdryer and the shower was hot and powerful. The hotel does provide hand wash, shampoo and shower gel in dispensers attached to the walls. They were adequate but if this an issue for some people, then I recommend you bring your own. Entertainment - This is easy to comment on, as there is none at all, so I strongly recommend bringing your own cards and games etc. WiFi - Free and powerful throughout the hotel. Trips - We went into Malcesine on the bus to explore the old town and the castle, we also took the cable car to the top of Mount Baldo to walk some trails and go walking with Alpacas. Another good day trip we undertook was ro take the ferry across the lake to Limone, it was only €10 each and is a nice day out to see another lakeside town. My wife also did stand up paddle boarding on the lake which she really enjoyed. F

Great, quiet, position out of Malcesine. Walked 3 miles each way into Malcesine along an easy lake side path. Regular bus service too. Hotel serves excellent breakfast selection of fruits, cereals, cold platters, pastries plus egg and bacon. Rooms were very clean and cleaned daily with fresh towels. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. A 10 minute walk either side of the shore to Pizzeria Restaurants serving drinks / coffee / food. An excellent holiday

A comfortable place for a break, easy to find and has everything in one place. Very pleasant place to stay.

Had a wonderful stay at Hotel Sole 4th - 11th May 2024. We stayed in room 235 which was to the side of the hotel but still had stunning views across the lake, also had amazing views from the dining room and pool side. The room was comfortable with daily maid service and fresh towels. The all inclusive menu offered lots of choice at breakfast lunch and dinner, delicious food and plenty of it which was self service buffet. A special thank you to head waiter Mohammed and Nayeem who work hard each day and also kept a meal for us on a late return from a trip to Venice. We hired bikes from the hotel and cycled along the stunning lake path down to Malcesine. There is also a bus stop directly opposite the hotel with an hourly tourist bus which is cheaper than the main service 484 bus. We would definitely stay again.
