NH Collection Venezia Grand Hotel Palazzo dei Dogi in Venice

Booked this Hotel for a weekend trip in Venice. Chose the location as it is not in the busy tourist area but it is nicely situated in a  quiet area of Venice, Cannaregio. Lots of good restaurants and wine bars around .    The Hotel is very nice too… an old Palace converted into 5 * Hotel direct on the canal. They have a very nice and large garden as well.  The breakfast was excellent.  Our allocated  Premium room (124 first floor) wasn’t that great though, we got a lot of noise from the restaurant and Lobby area and it also just looks agains a wall when you look out of the window. Did not feel Preium at all.    We  got a room change (208) for the second night to the second floor which was excellent.  

We recommend rooms on the 2nd floor over the 1st.

Overall a very nice stay and would book again but also ensure we like the room they allocate.

The hotel is very upscale, the rooms are spacious, and there is a large garden leading to the back door directly to the lagoon. Breakfast and dinner can be served outdoors or indoors. However, there are mosquitoes outdoors due to the dense greenery. It takes 20-30 minutes to walk to Piazza San Marco, but passing the main street, there are shops on both sides, so it is not monotonous.

Wonderful hotel with truly lovely courtyard and amazing gardens. Had a full itinerary during our 5 night stay and so did not spend much time in the hotel itself, but it is grand, venetian style building magnificently furnished. Hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful- thank you very much for our anniversary treat :). The location was great for us - away from the hustle & bustle and easily accessed via water taxi from airport direct to the hotel door. Check out the nearby Oficina Ormesini for cicchetti and aperitivi - fantastic. I've converted my 10yo love affair with Spritz from Aperol to Select! We stayed in a Junior Suite room so had plenty of space and a great view over the rear courtyard and garden. Does mean mosquitoes can be a problem if you like to have the windows open, but we found an electric repellent device in the wardrobe that seemed to do the trick. Would happily stay here again

The environment is very good, but it is just that you need to go up and down 4 stairs to get to the train station. The hotel booked a taxi boat to the station for 80 Euros per boat. If you are not physically fit/have a limited budget, it is recommended to choose a hotel closer.

The hotel is beautiful and well-decorated, with an elegant blend of classic and modern styles. However, its location is a bit far from the main attractions. The highlight of the experience was undoubtedly the staff, who were extremely polite and attentive.

Unfortunately, the Valentine’s Day dinner was a major disappointment. Despite having great potential to be a special night, it lacked planning and romance. There was no themed decoration, and the music selection was completely off, with Latin music playing instead of a romantic Italian soundtrack. The only saving grace of the evening was the menu—the food was simply delicious, and I am immensely grateful to the chef for that. Without his exceptional cuisine, the night would have been completely ruined.

Another frustrating detail was the absence of live music, despite the presence of a piano in the hotel. Throughout the entire weekend, there was no performance, which was a shame, as small details like this could have made a big difference in the atmosphere. Overall, the hotel has its qualities, but the service feels more like a 4-star standard rather than a true 5-star experience.

My stay at Hotel dei Dogi was delightful, immersing me in Venice's rich history. The enchanting atmosphere is appealing, though some outdated furniture could use touch-ups. Breakfast was a highlight, with a delicious buffet one morning and a cozy bar setting on another day, despite some maintenance issues. Overall, it's a lovely choice for experiencing Venice's charm, with a few areas needing attention.

One of my favorite hotels in Venice, hits a great balance between price, location and room levels. The cannareggio area where the hotel is located is somewhat quitter and less crowded than San Marco and other touristic hotspot while being well connected in terms of footbridges and overall most touristic destinations and museums are less than 30 mins away on foot. Also few great bacari in the surroundings (typical venetian bars where you can enjoy a class of wine and have small bites) and a phenomenal artisanal gelato shop. Room was nice and relatively spacious by Venice standard, the hotel also offers an early check in service at a reasonable price that was particularly welcomed.

Amazing 5 stars hotel! The service was perfect, very smiling and helpful. Beautiful design, fully renovated with very modern touch. Very spacious king room, so comfortable! The garden is absolutely stunning, one hidden gem in Venice! Location is in a very quiet area, not far from the train station and in front of Murano. Would love to come back!

Lovely hotel out of the packed tourist areas but close enough to walk in. Beautiful garden, good service and good breakfast.
