Ca' Pagan in Venice

Was very disappointed with the staff and service. I rang the front door bell for 45 mins and no one would open to let us in. I had to get someone to call their after hours line to let us in even though it was only 2pm and no one was at the reception. The lady that arrived was rude and not at all apologetic. The hotel would not turn on the A/C and made excuses saying Italy had closed the A/C since winter is starting which was not true as I was in Rome and Florence few days ago and we had the A/c on and after Venice we went to Milan and we had A/c there as well. Breakfast was not included and they asked us to pay €10 per person for some mediocre continental breakfast. The bathroom had a tub to shower but no shower curtain. I complained to the manager about all the issues and they were not at all interested in making us feel welcome and resolving issues, instead he told me to leave and go somewhere else since I am not happy in this hotel. As far as I am concerned this is not how you treat your guests.

Ca’pagan is actually a very basic guest house with good photos on the website.

It’s located close to a water-bus station and 20 minutes walk from San Marco square. It would be nice to have information about the exact way to reach the hotel cause it is very difficult to notice it amongst the similar buildings.

There is no elevator and all rooms are on the second floor. The windows have view of the wall of the adjacent building and there is no balcony.

The worst of all is that air conditioning electric panel was making loud clicking noise throughout the night and we couldn’t sleep. When we complained about it the receptionist said they were aware of this and couldn’t do anything.

Frustrating experience while taking a shower hot water suddenly finished and I had to wait almost 20 min for it to appear again. The receptionist said it was cause someone else was taking shower at the same time…

Breakfast was very basic, not even one hot item, even boiled eggs were cold and hard. There is a tiny courtyard with few tables.

After 6pm there is nobody available at the reception so we had to remember the door code otherwise we would not be able to enter the hotel.

Bed is quite comfortable with different types of pillows, a small sofa, big mirrors in the room. There is a minibar, but no electric kettle and no iron.

I am surprised ca’pagan have a “fabulous” rating on the booking website. Except the beautiful furniture I can’t think of anything great there. Unreasonably expensive.
