The only thing this hotel has going for it is its proximity to the train station and that’s about where the positives end.

First, our room was never cleaned during our stay. Normally that wouldn’t be a major issue, but the bathrooms here feature a bizarre half-glass shower partition (see photos), which guarantees water ends up all over the floor every time you shower. We were forced to use our towels to mop it up ourselves.

What makes it stranger is that we never displayed a “Do Not Disturb” sign, and housekeeping never knocked once. When we went downstairs around 1:30 p.m. to ask for fresh towels, there wasn’t even anyone available at reception.

The room itself felt dated and poorly equipped. The carpet looked worn and in desperate need of replacement, the television was surprisingly small, and there wasn’t even a mini-fridge in the room. The pillows were paper-thin and offered almost no support, making for an uncomfortable night’s sleep.

Then there’s the noise. Every morning, without fail, loud church bells start ringing around 7:15 a.m., followed by more ringing around 8:00–8:15 a.m. If you’re hoping to sleep in, forget it. What’s even more frustrating is that staff never mentioned this beforehand.

The shower itself was also showing signs of mould, and that impractical half-partition design turns every shower into a battle against a flooded bathroom floor.

Breakfast was mediocre at best: boiled eggs, salami, cheese, coffee, and a few miniature muffins. Perfectly edible, but nowhere near the exceptional breakfast some reviews led us to expect.

For the price, the overall experience was disappointing. Between the lack of housekeeping, mouldy shower, flooded bathroom floor, uncomfortable bedding, dated room furnishings, and the daily early-morning wake-up call from the church bells, this hotel fell well below expectations.

If your top priority is being close to the train station, this hotel may work for you. If you value cleanliness, comfort, basic room amenities, or a peaceful morning’s sleep, I’d recommend looking elsewhere

Oh and the final part that gets me is the “not in use” fire alarms on every floor!
