We stayed at Hotel Galleria for 3 nights, booking 3 rooms, two of which had canal-side views. As expected in Venice, those rooms were small, but we knew that when booking and were happy to trade space for the view. The hotel itself is really nice - great location, easy to get to, clean, and full of character. The instructions for entry were clear and the code system worked well. Overall, first impressions were very positive. Unfortunately, the biggest issue here is noise - and it’s a serious one. I stayed in Room 1, right next to reception, and the walls are extremely thin. You can hear everyone walking past and every conversation at the desk, especially early in the morning. There are even notices about noise, which probably tells you everything you need to know. However, the main problem was a constant humming noise that sounded like a cement mixer running somewhere nearby. It would start up, wake us up, and then run for long periods. After a couple of nights of broken sleep, we finally worked out what it was - the bathroom extractor fan from the neighbouring room. Every time they turned their bathroom light on, the noise kicked in and carried straight through the walls. On the last night, it was unbearable - they left the light on, meaning the fan ran continuously. We ended up banging on the wall at around 2am just to get some peace, which is not how you want to spend nights in Venice. It’s a real shame because aside from the noise, this is a lovely place in a great spot. But if you value a good night’s sleep, I’d think carefully or request a room well away from reception and neighbouring bathrooms. Hopefully the owner can do something about the extractor fans.

Beautiful hotel on the Grand Canal beside the Accademia bridge in Dorsoduro, the most beautiful area in Venice. Our room had 3 windows with breathtaking views, it was warm and comfortable with classic decor. Welcoming and friendly staff. Very relaxed atmosphere. Surrounded with lots of good restaurants and bars. Beside vaporetto stop or 15 min walk from bus station. Perfect. We will definitely return .

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Galleria at the beginning of September. We had room 10, which is overlooking the canal. The day we arrived, we opened the window, and a gondola race was happening right outside. We couldn't have had a better welcome to Venice. The room had everything we needed. The location was perfect. The Accademia Vaporetto stop is just steps away, and St Mark's is just a short walk over the bridge. I would recommend this hotel for an authentic Venice experience.

We were invited to an event in Venice and our regular Venetian holiday apartment accommodation wasn't available for a short let and the dates we needed so we searched for alternatives. We were delighted with the Hotel Galleria; the price if we booked directly with them rather than booking through an agent plus pre-arrival prompt responses and information. Our view of the Grand Canal was spectacular to be honest. We sat by the window simply enjoying the view and the whole incredible ambience - so lovely we left the curtains open and woke to the early morning deliveries, practicalities and life of the city. The room was comfortable, practical, en suite and had everything we needed. We slept soundly and would not hesitate to return. In fact, I've been trying to work out how soon we can go back to the Hotel Galleria. Some of the TA Reviews on their site were patently unfair and showed a lack of understanding the historical limitations of the city, its development and its environmental constraints. We LOVED being in the Hotel Galleria, the location, the decor, the attention of the staff and the beauty of the place. Coming from the UK it was rather like having the honour to stay at a National Trust owned house. We wouldn't hesitate to return.

My husband really wanted a view of the Grand Canal but such hotels were out of our price range. Then I stumbled upon the "1 star" Hotel Galleria...what a perfect choice! The location next to the Accademia Bridge and water bus can't be beat. We bought 7-day vaporetto pass at the airport and used it to arrive at the hotel and then used the pass many times during our stay from the convenient Accademia stop next to Hotel Galleria. Our hosts, Luciano and Lucio were very welcoming and helpful. We didn't meet them on our arrival day but they left very clear instructions on accessing the hotel keypads...no problem. The maid, Roberta, was very friendly too and showed us a couple rooms as all the rooms are different. She even ran up to us at the vaporetto stop after we checked out of the hotel to bring us a converter and charging cord that we forgot (most appreciated)! We loved Room 10, which is the largest of the rooms and has wonderful views of the canal. The room has plenty of storage with antique furniture, hot water pot for coffee and tea, and hair dryer. The hotel has quite a selection of rooms for all budgets; one room has their bathroom down the hall. But ALL rooms have the wonderful location. Room 8 also appears to have great views. Room 5 (smaller) looked like a good choice, too; it's on the corner with two views and plenty of sunlight. I think you just need to understand the room you are booking; contact the owners for details and look at the online photos carefully. The location on Dorsoduro was very nice, away from the crowds of San Marco and the Rialto Bridge. There were many restaurant and café choices for meals. We ate breakfast at Bar da Gino with the locals, lunch next door with a table on the Grand Canal, cicchetti at cafes along the smaller canal and watched the sunset at Zattere (southern end). Plus we took our 2 euro gondola ride at the traghetto stop Punta della Dogana, and watched gondola repairs in process at two different shops. I would highly recommend Hotel Galleria for all budget levels!

Grazie mille Luciano&Lucio!! What a sweet gem of a hotel! The service was wonderful as soon as I arrived. My room was cleaned daily. The place was spotless and the location is 5 star!! You walk out and you are right at the Academia bridge. I stayed in room 7. Facing the Grand canal! Small. But perfect for a solo! The price is right and the location can't be beat. Viva Italia! Lovely small hotel in the Dorsoduro neighborhood. We had a room overlooking the Grand Canal and loved opening the windows and watching the activity day & night. Comfortable bed, beautiful furnishings, and a great location with wonderful local restaurants around the corner. The owners are so welcoming. We would stay again.

For a one star hotel, this is a fabulous hotel. Great location right on the canal. We found our room to be very clean and as depicted in the photos available online. The best part was Luciano. He went out of his way to help us by making a call to Italo to book us a new train after ours was cancelled and initially rescheduled to an inconvenient time. His customer service went well beyond what was necessary and we so appreciated it. Because of this outstanding service, I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Loved my four nights here. My single room was small but had everything I needed and the most wonderful view of the Grand Canal. I arrived in the evening when reception was closed but the entry instructions were clear and easy to use. The location is fantastic - vaporetto stop nearby, 5 minutes walk to the stop for the airport boat, 15 minutes walk to St Mark’s Square - and Dorsodouro, where the hotel is located, was a great area to wander around. There are lots of lovely cafes and restaurants nearby - recommend breakfast at Laguna Bar on the water, just a few minutes from the hotel.

This delightful little pensione is in the best location, right by a bridge and the Academia vaporetto stop; couldn't be better. Our room was small but functional and the view from the window over the gondolas moored below and towards the Grand Canal was fabulous. We enjoyed watching the world go by from our little table and chairs by the window. Reception is only manned in the morning which isn't really a problem but we would love it if they started doing breakfasts again.
