Nikko, Kotoku Onsen 🧭 Map
Spa facilities: SPA, Sauna
The hotel is beautiful, has a great atmosphere, and excellent service, but it's a bit far and not suitable for those without a car. The food was delicious.
The hotel is old, so it feels worn, but the hot springs and food were really good. I plan to come back again.
There's a bus stop right in front of the hotel, making it convenient to Yumoto and Lake Chuzenji. The hotel receptionist spoke near-native English, making communication seamless and friendly. The room was spacious, with a large meadow outside the window. At night, I could see many wild deer grazing outside. The food was delicious, and the open-air hot spring was also very nice.
The hotel is in oku nikko which surrounded by nature. If you love nature or snow in winter. This is a perfect place to stay. Outside Onsen also surrounded by snow but unfortunately we cannot see the star that day.
Nice hotel with very friendly staff. You have several activity right outside of the hotel and can take the bus to do some more. The room we had was big and comfortable.
It was fully booked when we stayed there but we didn't feel the crowd. Quiet and peaceful, a great place to stay if you are visiting the Oku-nikko area. Easier to access for those who self drive. Meals are fantastic and very filling, staff are polite and efficient, our Japanese style family room with private bathroom was clean and well furnished, although the bathroom was very small. They provided...

Not bad for the price, the service is good, there are hot springs which are good for relieving fatigue after traveling.
Nice hotel spring bath. Will come back again
The accommodation is great and the staff are lovely. You can leave your luggage both before check-in and after check-out. The facilities are complete, and tea and coffee are provided.
It was a very quiet and nice place. The bath was also very comfortable.
It was an old facility, and it was average. I wasn't particularly impressed or impressed.
Small but cosy and traditional onsen. Staff are polite and willing to help. Room size is good.

For location, experience and service, Nikko Tokinoyuu is a 5. I was in Nikko for the weekend and arrived late on Friday night and stayed at a tradition hotel because of the check in hours but Saturday, moved to Nikko Tokinoyuu because i wanted to stay at a tradition Japanese guest house. It was a great experience with the Japanese onsen and the tradition guest room. I enjoy the experience. I would...
The staff provided excellent service. My only disappointment was not being aware beforehand that parking wasn't available until 3 PM. This made it challenging to meet up with my international guests. Had I known this in advance, we could have made much smoother arrangements, so I hope this information is clearly communicated for future guests.
Absolutely delighted with our stay! We stayed for two nights on a room-only basis. Our main purpose was to visit Nikko Toshogu Shrine, so we specifically chose this accommodation for its convenient walking distance. While it's a bit of a walk from the station, there are plenty of dining options along the way, so finding food was never an issue. We were pleasantly surprised to find complimentary bread...
The public bath is SO NICE. The traditional accommodation is also a nice departure from the typical hotel stay, highly recommend
An authentic ryokan experience. Charming. The only drawback was always having to leave the key at the front desk.
The best option for budget try of Japanese rekan. Good location, good service, simple onsen included.

The staff were all very kind and I had a pleasant stay. The food was varied and all delicious, so I was very satisfied. Being able to bring my dog into the banquet hall was a nice plus. I was also impressed that there were even cute dog treats provided in the room. I think this is a wonderful hotel where you can stay safely with your dog.
This was my first time staying at Kinugawa International Hotel during my trip to Kinugawa! Overall, it was great. I was traveling alone with my two dogs, a toy poodle and a munchkin, and had a comfortable stay. I appreciated the service of taking a commemorative photo upon check-in. The building is old, but the rooms are well-maintained and clean. Traveling alone, the soft cages and cat litter were...
This was my first time staying at a hotel where you can stay with your dog. The staff are all kind and will talk to your dog. The hotel is old, but there are lots of cute dog paintings, ornaments, and decorations, which are very soothing. There is also a small museum, a dog run, and a cute souvenir corner. The room was a beautiful Japanese-style room with no pet smell. The cleaning was thorough and...
I honestly loved this pet hotel. My dogs enjoyed every bit of it and loved sitting with us while we are. We were surprised how the food was so good. Thank you to the staff for making us feel at home. Sad we had to leave early but we were left with great memories.
I stayed in a Japanese-style room with my dog. My dog is a Labrador. It's hard to stay in a hotel. I'm glad that they allow large dogs. The three dog runs on the website are good for small dogs. But they were not big enough for large dogs. That was disappointing. The food is not particularly expensive, but it's delicious. In particular, breakfast comes with rice in a rice cooker and miso soup in...
I stayed with my dog and one adult in November. I think it's wonderful that you can choose a room meal because it's a corona. The price is a little high because it takes time and extra labor costs, but the food is delicious and I am very satisfied. The inn itself is quite old and has a creaking noise level, but it has been cleaned cleanly. I don't use the hot springs in the ryokan because I couldn...

I was grateful for the accommodating hospitality despite my late arrival and late check-in time. The accommodations were spacious and clean, and the extended bathhouse hours were a nice touch.
It was enough for an overnight stay. I didn't include dinner so I went to a nearby restaurant by car. The facility was quiet and nice!
The breakfast was delicious and the accommodation was clean and nice. I left my bag there in advance, but when I checked in, they brought it to my room. I went there because the Google reviews were good, and I'm satisfied.
It was conveniently located just off the highway, clean, and had a homey feel to it.
Amazing Ryokan held by a very nice couple. The kaiseki diner and breakfast were especially Amazing !! If you don’t mind using a public bathroom I totally recommend you this Ryokan 👍
Stayed with my group as part of Intrpid tour. Very clean staff helpful. Onsen great with Kimono provided & slippers for use during stay. Western bed - very comfortable. Fantastic traditional dinner provided if booked in advance. Unfortunately no breakfast option for groups as yet. Fridge & kettle in room so good to plan ahead. Great for our needs whilst on tour. Local bus stop 18 perfect from...

This hotel is special because everything is handmade. I love that local artists and craft is supported here and would live to see more of that around Japan.
We liked the hotel very much. It surely needs renovation in some areas, but you forget about this, because the hotel service is very good. The staff is very helful and welcoming, many free amenities are provided: yukata clothes for kids for all ages, socks for geta shoes, face sheet masks for ladies. Futons are very cosy, kaiseki dinner was worth it, but if your kids do not like Japanese style food...
I like the parking lot, it has a roof so it doesn't get snowed on. The food is delicious and of good quality.
A lovely hotel with a great onsen. Traditional Japanese breakfast was delicious! Not much going on around the hotel though restaurant-wise, it’s definitely easier coming with a car.
Very friendly staff and older hotel are very clean
A long-established hot spring hotel! Including breakfast and dinner, it’s really cost-effective! The food is super delicious, from sashimi to small pots! Strawberry wine for appetizer, hot tea and dessert after meal! The hot springs are also quite good. We are a family of four adults with children, and we had a very satisfying stay! I've stayed in many hotels before that were twice as expensive as...

It’s our first time visiting Nikko. The hotel is quite a distance from Nikko station so walking is not an option (take bus 2A/2C) and stop at stop number 11. Then, walk 5mins upslope to the hotel. The friendly receptionist spoke basic english. There were 2 smoking booths at floor 3&4. The onsen(both indoor and outdoor) was a nice experience. As there were few guest, I had the whole onsen all to myself...
Traditional Japanese hot spring hotel, the door still uses a key, the room is spacious, the decoration is old-fashioned but clean, you can see the stream outside the window. The hotel has two hot springs, indoor and outdoor, both of which are very comfortable. When checking out, you need to pay 350 yen (I forgot the exact price) after the hot spring, which I personally think is negligible. The room...
The location was great, it was close to Nikko Toshogu Shrine so it felt like a stroll.
A quaint Japanese-style hotel, located on a quiet road. The meals are delicious and traditional. The front desk staff are very friendly. The hotel provides station shuttle service. The overall accommodation experience is very good. I will choose it again next time I have the opportunity to go to Nikko. Stay here.
Staff are friendly and nice. Onsen is clean and not crowd at all!

We had and amazing time here! The staff were incredibly friendly and hospitable. The onsen was so refreshing after a long day of travel. We also loved the beautiful setting next to the lake. It was so relaxing. Dinner was delicious and a neat cultural experience. If you're debating including dinner, definitely add it on. You won't regret it. I had a truly wonderful stay at Hatago Nagomi. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. The staff were incredibly warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. The rooms are good, and the food is great. It's super easy to get to – just take the bus to stop 28, and it's a quick 20-meter walk from there.

Good Japanese traditional breakfast. Good onsen in room.
I was a bit worried about the damage to the wallpaper and floor, but other than that it was great. Thank you very much.
Overall it was good but the water pressure in the shower was poor
The customer service was very good. However, the shower in the room was unusable. Also, the toilet wouldn't flush if the water was running somewhere in the room.
This was my first time using this hotel. I was a bit worried because the exterior looked old, but the interior had been renovated and was clean, with the atmosphere of a resort hotel. There was an open-air hot spring bath on the balcony, which I enjoyed.
It was great to have an open-air bath in the room ^_^ The large communal bath had a sauna, and I was impressed with the spectacular view from the open-air bathing space ✨ The buffet was delicious and amazing ♪ I want to go again ^_^

Impressed by the amount of courtesy received at my stay.
I stayed at Ichifuji for one night, during late March of 2025. I was looking for a local ryokan, one with an onsen. I had booked this ryokan 2 weeks in advance, as it was one of the few that welcomed single travelers. While rustic, and showing a little of it's age, I would whole-heartedly recommend this place to my friends, and others who are looking for a more "cozy" vibe. The ryokan is run by an...
We really enjoyed the private onsens available on the property, especially after a long day out. The family’s restaurant is located less than 100m away from the hotel. We had it for two nights and were really impressed by the grilled butter squid (super fresh squid) and the stir fried offal. It was really convenient for a warm and homey Japanese dinner fix. The room itself was also very spacious...
So amazing 🥹 dinner was the best meal we’ve had in Japan during this trip, accommodation is perfect
The staff were all friendly and warm! I made a reservation for breakfast, and as you can see in the photo, I was treated to a lot of hospitality and had a luxurious breakfast! We were free to rent out the bath depending on the timing! I would like to use it again!
First, the disadvantages. There are only stairs. There is no elevator. The top floor is on the 3rd floor, so it is not recommended for those who cannot go up to the 3rd floor. Is that the only place? The baths that can be reserved are fed directly from the source, the meals are full of locally grown vegetables, and the hot dishes are served hot and freshly prepared. This is an inn where you can keep...
