Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Hotel Kinugawa Gyoen, Nikko1 / 30
7.6
Nikko, Fujihara 1-1, 879-1502 Nikko, Prefektura Totigi, Yaponiya 🧭 Map
It's an old hotel but the room was quite big by Japanese standard, also clean and comfortable. The buffet dinner and breakfast had a good variety of food. But the outdoor bath was disappointing. Another minus point is availability of WiFi in the lobby only and not in the rooms.
It's a 10-minute walk from Kinugawa Onsen Station, and you can book the hotel's shuttle bus for your return trip to the station the next day after check-out. The room was quite spacious and comfortable, and the hotel isn't far from the iconic Big Staircase. The dinner buffet was plentiful, making this a great value-for-money option in the area.
I think this hotel is absolutely fantastic! It's very cozy and comfortable to stay in. The food is buffet style with a wide variety of choices, and they keep refilling everything constantly, so you don't have to worry about missing out. The hot spring is also huge! I will definitely come back to stay and enjoy it again next time.
Excellent place. A wide variety of options.
The food was so delicious, ofuro was also relaxing. Amenities and view are so awesome. Highly recommend.
This guesthouse is much cheaper than the hotels next door. While it doesn't offer breakfast, the hot spring water is the same for all guests. We stayed in a Japanese-style room with a slightly elevated tatami bed.

Great customer service with very modern and clean amenities, price is decent but it is a bit far from the central of Nikko. There are free tea, coffee and instant miso soup available at the communal area/ lobby. The room is very clean, well designed with a nice garden view. I really enjoy my stay there, would recommend to my friends and family.
Lovely hotel. The female receptionist is so kind. It is a little far from the station and main roads, but ok if you have a car. The shower and bed was excellent. It has free tea and coffee but you need to buy your own breakfast things from 7/11. Most outside breakfast places open at 9am or 10am and were nothing special. There is an excellent steak place 400m uphill from the restaurant, but you need...
Everything was fine. There is no food sold in the hotel and it’s a bit far away from the circuit. We had to use several taxis.
Excellent hotel and very high quality. Excellent location for trips in the area, large room clean and very pleasant. The hotel staff is excellent, pleasant, always smiling, helpful and with a positive attitude. Many thanks to the lovely staff and especially to Sakanushi the lovely one who tried very hard and helped me surprise my wife on her birthday. Thank you very much. Highly recommend staying at...
Slightly out of the way but hotel was comfortable. Would be better if there were more shuttle bus timings though. Staff were nice especially kikuchi! He went above and beyond to ensure that we made it in time so we could purchase what we needed
Amazing hotel! Best one I've stayed at during my Japan trip. I really recommend it.

Chain hotel. We've stayed at Itoen hotels several times now. They're all onsen hotels, and the prices are very reasonable. There are fewer foreign tourists and more locals. The buffet quality is on par with the price, and I personally think it's quite good.
Onsen is excellent . Hotel is valuable. Morning and Dinner is so plenty of food and delicious. But crowdy is limitation.
This property is very affordable and offers a lot for the price it demands. A 5mins walk to the Kinugawa Onsen station. The property is older but has all the amenities you need. There is an indoor onsen and a small outdoor one. Male and female sides don't change. You can also book a free session of private onsen. Breakfast and dinner are both buffets, nothing of high quality but there are a lot of...
Both breakfast and dinner are buffet style. They offer fresh tuna and squid sushi, and during the New Year, traditional Japanese New Year dishes. It's quite good value for money. However, the buffet is limited to 1.5 hours and requires a reservation, so you need to check in early to book your preferred time. From what I've seen on Japanese TV programs, the buffet at Mikazuki, which is within a few...
Room located far away from the onsen. Need to go through a pathway that exposes to rain.
The location is really good. 10 mins away from the station. Easy to find. Big hotel, about 11 floors. The room is quite spacious, part in western style with beds and part in japaneese with tatamis. There is sink in themiddle of the room, quite comfy. Good view to the mountain and forest from the window, 9th floor. Nice yukata to wear, i liked the outerpart. There weren't many restaurants nearby, so they quickly arranged for dinner and breakfast to be included. I was very satisfied with the delicious food at a reasonable price. The hotel and rooms were also very clean, and the service was courteous, so I would definitely stay here again.
It was a very clean and pleasant inn. I heard there was a large infestation of stink bugs, but they explained this to me in advance and took proper precautions, so it wasn't a big deal.
The room had a great view and was very clean! When I arrived around 1:00, the private bath, table tennis, and karaoke were all available, so I was able to enjoy the whole day in the hotel! I would definitely like to use it again.
The snow scenery was beautiful.

The hotel is very close to the train station, about a 10-minute walk. Dinner is buffet style. If you have time, I highly recommend visiting Ryuo Gorge, and the hotel's hot spring is also excellent.
Hotel has a nice onsen (indoor and outdoor). Staff are helpful. When requsted for a fruit knife, i am impressed that staff handed to me in a second. Room was spacious and all of us slept so well. Room was totally quiet . No sound from cars, electrical stuff . We drove a rental car there and theres free parking opp the hotel .
Ryokan-style hotel, clean, good location, peaceful, with free onsen access.
The hotel's breakfast and dinner were both excellent, featuring dishes like Tempura ,sashimi, fruit, cakes, and meats traditional Japanese dishes .It would be better if they offered a pick-up service from the train station, which is about a 10-12minute walk away. It’s hard when you pull the luggage and it’s cobblestone road.
Room is spacious. Onsen outdoor one of the side is nicer. Buffet is not bad. Relaxing!
This hotel is recommended. Great buffets with variety of options (japanese, western, tempura, wagyu). Fruit taste was not as good as we expected though and you might not feel excited much about the food after a couple days as they’re pretty much the same. Wonderful public baht with generous amenities provided. Pajama is not needed if you enjoy wearing yukata and sock when sleeping at night as we did...

It's located very close to the Kinu Tateiwa Suspension Bridge. I woke up just before 6am and when I opened the curtains, the morning sun bathed me in a truly divine view. When I opened the door, I was greeted by the sounds of the river flowing and the birds singing, which was very soothing. I took a walk across the suspension bridge and was greeted by Kinuta standing nearby. Another five minutes' walk...
The facilities are old but well-maintained. I thought it was interesting that you could reserve private baths and various entertainment options. Maybe the walls are thin, but I was surprised to hear conversations from outside or the next room. It's nice that the suspension bridge is just a short walk away. The view was amazing.
We stayed as a family of four. We were able to use the hotel's facilities, such as the pool and table tennis, for free, and had a great time. There were a lot of guests with children, so the shared areas and dining halls in the hotel were very lively, but our room was quiet and we enjoyed the view, so we were able to relax. I think this is a hotel where people with and without children can relax. At...
The hotel was very comfortable and well-equipped with amenities such as a buffet, karaoke, and table tennis! It's a lovely hotel and affordable, so I'd love to come back!
The facilities were a little old, but the kids enjoyed playing there. The price is reasonable, so it's a good choice for a family trip with kids.
Honestly, given the low price that provides 2 meals and onsen experiences, I think it is quite good for value, but of course the building is very old and rather broken (although it is still usable). But then, it will take an hour to go to Nikko and the surrounding area isn't interesting to visit, just to stay in this hotel is not a very good option especially if you want to go hiking in Nikko.

The room was very clean and we had a great view of the Kinugawa River! The hotel also had a calming atmosphere, so I'm glad I stayed at this hotel! I'd love to stay here again!
The hotel is in a good location and the hot spring is also very large. However, the parking lot is a bit inconvenient because it is far away and you have to walk more than a kilometer and take the hotel bus! I will come again next time.
great interior, nice view. onsen a old but good cosmetics
The hotel facilities are complete, the hot spring environment is beautiful, and there is also a swimming pool for me to experience, which is enough for me to have a good swim. I feel comfortable physically and mentally after experiencing these two projects! Personally speaking, the dinner service mode suits me very well, the design is very unique, and I come back with a full meal!

Close to the train station, making bus travel convenient. The hotel has a hot spring, and we usually went around 3 PM when it was empty, which was very relaxing. Breakfast is provided, and since we're used to Japanese-style breakfasts, it was perfectly fine for us.
The location is super convenient, just a 3-minute walk from Tobu-Nikko Station and a 1-minute walk opposite Nikko JR Station. It's really easy to get to all the attractions by bus, highly recommended! Plus, there's a hot spring public bath.
Great location, right opposite the station, perfect for dropping off luggage and exploring Nikko. It was also an excellent choice for catching the early morning bus to Akechidaira during the autumn foliage season. The service was excellent, and booking in advance gave us great value for money!
The location is super, it’s opposite JR Nikko and a short walk from Tobu Nikko station. One big plus is the onsen. The hotel is jaded, you can tell from the light switches but the cleanliness is more or less there. Breakfast spread is sadly lacking.
Convenient place. It’s just a 5min walk from the Tobu Nikko station (the station you would arrive in if you rode over from Asakusa). It’s a premium stay that has a public bath. I had intended to go for a day trip, but I got tired so I ended up staying overnight at the last minute. I booked this hotel on a whim, but it was a wonderful one. It's old, but that's what makes it so charming, and the bath, the welcome drink of draft beer, and the food were all fantastic, so I've vowed to definitely come back. Unexpectedly, I was able to see the fireworks from my room. The man with...
I got a little lost trying to find the place, but once I got there I had a comfortable stay. I was also very happy that it was close to Kinugawa Station, so I could do some shopping there.
The hotel environment is very good, the food is often rich, and the staff are friendly and service-oriented.
It was hard to find, so I had to search around for it. For dinner, we had crab, which was great, considering we're in a landlocked prefecture. The baths were also great, with daytime and nighttime baths. The room was a four-person room, I think, but we shared it with two people. We doubled up on the futons and it was very comfortable. For breakfast on the second day, we made our own original seafood...

Beautiful onsen. Every single person working there was really nice and helpful.
I booked this hotel through Trip.com and the pictures of the room I chose included a spa. I got to the hotel and although the room was big, japanese style, it didn't include the spa. The hotel was quite expensive and I was really hoping to relax in the spa. I complained in the reception, but the staff barely spoke English. I got really disappointed as one of the staff members started laughing at my...
The hot spring was just okay, pretty standard. Cleanliness was a major concern for me; the bed sheets felt quite grimy, possibly due to the high humidity. On the bright side, the location was excellent: attractions were within walking distance, and a bus stop right outside made sightseeing incredibly convenient. I might be overthinking it, but both the room I was assigned and the dining spot we were...

The only thing I missed in the room was tea bags. Otherwise, everything was great. The window opened, and there was a really good breakfast included, which wasn't even mentioned here on Trip. I'd happily come back!
The hotel is just walking distance from train station & bus terminal to take bus to places of interests. Small town - eating places aplenty. Family mart and Lion Dor is in the front and back of hotel. Breakfast is healthy and simple. Staff offer practical suggestion. Room is clean . Amenities provided . Change of towels can be offered by hanging a bag of new towels on the door . Not intrusive
Acceptable hotel for a short stay. Room was basic but functional. Check-in took a bit long but no major problems. Does what it needs to without much flair.
The hotel is very near Nikko station. The staff are friendly and very accomodating. The room is small, but for an overnight stay, the size was sufficient. Yutorelo Nikko, nestled by Lake Chuzenji in Okunikko, is a lakeside inn with hot springs. The rooms are spacious and clean, offering excellent value for money.
The room ambiance is great, and the lake view is beautiful. Breakfast and dinner are also quite good, not just for show. The service attitude is excellent. However, the hot spring water hasn't been particularly hot these past two days, though it definitely has that authentic natural hot spring smell. Personally, I'm also not a huge fan of having a sheet between me and the duvet... even though that...
The hotel's location is okay, but it lacks amenities. It's convenient for hiking, but not for visiting other attractions. After 6 PM, the entire street is deserted with no shops open. There are absolutely no convenience stores. Even the regular bus is quite expensive. One time, I missed the last bus and had to take a taxi from the city back to the hotel, which cost a whopping 8600 yen. Very expensive
The BEST hostel I ever stayed in! If you are staying in Lake Chuzenji in Nikko you got to stay here. It is a hostel within a hotel so it is very clean, safe and very big. The staff are very friendly and everything is amazing. They have a free onsen + a lounge with drinks, tea, wine, coffee, and ice cream bars that you could take! They have a microwave too if you need it and a hot water dispenser...
This was an interesting stay I was very obviously here in the absolute off season. The hotel is run in an interesting mix of can be cheap and can be high class. I didn't book with dinner included which is a mistake because during off season the surroundings were somewhat lacking no Konbini. The hotel offered microwaved food a bit pricily for the people who hadn't ordered the high class dinner option...
Great value for money (what more could you ask for? LOL), unbeatable views, and a large public bath. Breakfast and dinner are mainly Western-style, perfect for introverts looking to relax. It's a bit of a walk from Chuzenji Onsen Station, about 10-15 minutes if you're pulling luggage. Chuzenji Post Office is a bit closer. The buffet has a wide variety of food, but it seems to be outsourced and pre-made. They've renovated the old facilities, but nothing is wasted and they're environmentally friendly. The water is lukewarm, so I recommend taking a long bath.
The food🍴 was great, the bath was okay, but there was one unfortunate thing I forgot to mention to the front desk. There was a large centipede in my room. I don't like killing things, so I put some insect repellent outside the room.
The breakfast and dinner buffets had a wide variety of options, and the steaks, sashimi, salmon roe, etc. were of high quality and more luxurious than the price would suggest, which was very good. The hot spring and hotel facilities were very old except for the front desk, and the water pressure in the hot spring showers was extremely weak.
