Kochoran in Toba

I was surprised that the room was larger than I expected!
You can smoke in the room, which I think is great for smokers. Non-smokers won't be bothered by the smell at all.

I've stayed at this inn many times. We booked a room for three people with an open-air cypress bath. The open-air bath was smaller than expected, and the cypress bath was black, so we didn't feel like soaking in it. The shower in the large communal bath stopped working immediately, which made it difficult to use. I want to enjoy a nice bath. The dinner was served in our room, but unfortunately, some of the food was dry, probably because it took a long time to prepare. The sashimi was also disappointing, but the abalone was delicious.

It was good. The food was delicious. I was able to relax because I ate in my room. I also thought the staff was very helpful. The baths were switched between men's and women's in the morning and evening, so I couldn't see the sunrise from the open-air bath, but I still had a wonderful time.

I stayed in the Tsuki room, which was renovated in March 2024. At Toba Station, we were greeted in front of the Kokichi Mikimoto statue in a limousine (black). We were greeted by about 5-6 people at the hotel entrance and entered the room. After the check-in procedure, we waited for matcha tea and sweets on the sofa seats before going to the room. . It is very convenient because you can go to the room in your shoes. There are slippers for the room and slippers for outside, so you can take care of everything. There are chairs and four tables in the dining room, which is about 16 tatami mats, and we enjoyed dinner here. The bedroom has two semi-double beds, a bathtub with a jet bath, and a bathroom washbasin, and the Ise Bay spreads out from the dining room, bedroom, and bathroom, and the sunrise was beautiful in the morning. The dinner was also delicious, and you can choose how to cook the spiny lobster and abalone in advance. For breakfast, rice, seaweed, miso stew, etc. are added to the set meal. I enjoyed it very much.

Very decent hotel, with Japanese style tatami room, located next to the sea. The staff and service was top and satisfying. The food was also really good. It even has a outdoor onsen. Unforgettable experience with wonderful one night stay.

Wonderful place to stay. They exemplified perfectly the Japanese omotenashi culture. Best ryokan I have ever stayed. We were picked up from the Toba station by a limousine and sent home on another. It was quite a surprise, I’ve never ridden one so I was especially elated to be able to do so. Upon arriving we were ushered by 3 staffs hold our luggages for us opened the door (limousine) and entrance to the cafe’ and served with complementary drinks (real matcha tea and a dessert). After the quck check-in (corona virus protocols) we were taken to our tatami room (washitsu). It was spacious within you’ll find 2 bed rooms, a separate toilet and bath, massage chair, refrigerator and all other amenities complete. Like any other ryokan, they have their own public onsen and at night the women can go to the outdoor onsen overlooking the sea. The view was spectacular. They also have an elevator 🛗 so it was quite convenient. We had our 6-course dinner (not even sure there was a lot of things served) in our room and breakfast was on the food hall at the 2nd floor. The staff were all amazing, polite, accommodating and smiling. We’re already planning to go back same time next year.

Highly recommend this wonderful and amazing Japanese style hotel. The staff are all so nice and friendly. Extremely helpful and welcoming. Mr Saito speaks good English and super friendly. The Japanese meals are unbelievably delicious. The outdoor onsen has great view. Perfect getaway for a weekend or travel by place. 😊

The staff are very polite and helpful. Some of them cannot speak English but they try to understand and make things easier for me. The ryokan is about 10 minutes walk from Toba station so if you are not carrying luggages it's a walkable distance since the shuttle bus is available until 18.00. The public bath is very nice and very generous for opening until midnight. I love that they use Pola for amenities and also change yukata and nightwear dress everyday. The dinner Kaiseki is very awesome. Everyday there are tofu soup and chawanmushi and plenty of seafood. The taste of the rice here is very good 🍚 I hope to go back to Mie for its rice 😋 and there is a yamamura milk vending machine on the ground floor, I had it everyday, very delicious 😋
