Galleria Midobaru in Beppu

This is an absolutely gorgeous hotel that offers a truly luxurious and private experience. The rooms are large, spacious, and feature a stunning in-room onsen, which was an absolute highlight. The best part? You get an amazing aerial view of the Beppu coastline right from your room and your private bath.

Breakfast was delicious and beautifully executed—while the selection is small, every dish was prepared tastefully.

Note on Location: The hotel is located about a 10–15 minute drive from Beppu Central. We highly recommend this hotel if you are driving, as there is no public transportation nearby, meaning guests relying on public transport will need to use taxis.

This resort is amazing! From the unique architecture to their services are absolutely fantastic. We stayed on the 4th floor which was looking onto the beautiful townscape and coastline of Beppu. With real hotspring introduced to the bathtub in private room, it felt very special. We had some of the most amazing meals in Kyushu there during our 2 night stays. The staff was friendly, helpful, and professional. If you want to have the most unique onsen experience in Beppu, Galleria Midoharu is the place to go! Thanks for making our stay in Beppu so memorable!

Extremely beautiful hotel with stunning views of Beppu. The design is sleek and modern, with unique artworks placed throughout the property. Our room had a private onsen bath overlooking the city—absolutely gorgeous—and the balcony was just as stunning.

Breakfast was fantastic as well, and they were able to provide gluten free options.

We can’t say enough good things about this hotel and were genuinely sad we could only stay for one night.

The building itself is absolutely stunning. We probably spent an hour just walking around taking pictures. Such a cool space and a fantastic view of Beppu and the sea. So relaxing to watch the view change as the sun sets. Great sunrise from the balcony too if you wake up early.

Our room was huge and very well appointed. All rooms have their own bath with a view.

Room service was tasty and very welcomed because all we wanted to do was relax in our room.

Staff are incredible. So nice and helpful.

All in all this place is excellent value and I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

Our stay at Galleria Midobaru was one of the highlights of our trip to Beppu.
The rooms were spacious and beautifully designed, and the private onsen that opened up to a balcony with an unbelievable view of the city was truly unforgettable.

The room had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. There is a private onsen in each room that opens up to an ultra-private balcony area. Every room has incredible views of Beppu city.

The hotel’s location was also great—just a short 10-minute walk from another wonderful onsen we visited.

We added breakfast to our stay, and it was definitely worth it. The buffet, with its fresh bread, salads, and coffee, was the perfect way to start the day. We also tried both the course dinner and the à la carte dinner, and both were absolutely amazing.

What made the experience even better was the staff. Everyone was kind and professional, and two people in particular stood out. One young man (whose name we unfortunately never learned) helped us at check in and and was very helpful. Also a very special thanks to Wakana was incredibly patient and kind helping us at check out. Her English is so wonderful; I was only sad that my Japanese is still developing so I could express how much of a great time we had.

Overall, it was peaceful, luxurious, and one of the most relaxing places we’ve ever stayed. Highly recommend Galleria Midobaru to anyone visiting Beppu.

I had a pretty easy time checking in and out, which was great. The hotel is about a 10-minute drive from the city, so it’s not too bad if you have a car. However, I found the laundry situation a bit frustrating—there was only one machine, and it wasn’t very convenient. The room could have been cleaner, too. I noticed some handwriting on the window that really shouldn’t have been there. Plus, the air conditioner was dripping water, and it ended up making my luggage wet. Overall, it wasn’t the best experience.

The hotel building is artistic designed, staff are super helpful and friendly, and fusion dishes at the Peak restaurant are excellent. The environment and surrounding are very pleasant but don’t expect convenience stores nearby. 

The only negative thing is they have onsen built in the room. When first stepped into the bedroom, there’s a strong smell of sulfur. The hotel probably wants to address it by having good ventilation such as air freshener machine prior to check in otherwise guests would get the wrong impression of poor/dirty drainage.

Best in all ways. Location, views, spacious, interior design, quality furnishings, cleanliness, in room amenities, restaurant, staff’s service. Premium price but worth it!

Absolutely amazing place to stay! Highly recommend if you plan to go Beppu for special occasions.

Big space, great view. Private onsen. Helpful staff. We had a rental car. I would imagine it'd be inconvenient without one.
