Grand Mercure Beppu Bay Resort & Spa in Beppu

My recent stay at the Grand Mercure Beppu Bay Resort & Spa was absolutely outstanding, primarily due to the exceptional staff who consistently went the extra mile to ensure a memorable experience .

I was immediately impressed by the efficient and swift recognition of my Accor Live Limitally (ALL) membership status at check-in. The team not only processed everything quickly but also ensured that all my member benefits were fully honored, which made me feel truly valued as a loyal guest.

What truly exceeded expectations was the unexpected and thoughtful gesture of arranging a car for me. This service, which went far beyond the standard offerings, was incredibly heartwarming and set a wonderfully positive tone for my entire visit .

A special note of gratitude must go to Yog, Sun Shangqi, Bigatto, and KOIDE. Their attentiveness, professionalism, and genuine kindness were remarkable. They exemplify the highest standards of hospitality.

The hotel itself provides a fantastic experience with its relaxing onsen facilities, spacious rooms offering beautiful sea or mountain views, and a rich breakfast buffet . However, it is the outstanding service from the entire team, especially the individuals mentioned above, that truly makes this resort stand out. They transformed a great trip into an extraordinary one.

I will undoubtedly choose to stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Beppu.

His attentiveness, compassion, and genuine kindness made a difficult situation much easier for me. Thanks to his understanding and caring nature, I was able to secure shelter when I truly needed it. dinner buffet and breakfast buffet are awesome.

I visited the hotel via tour, so the location is not a problem for me.

the hot spring area is relatively small. but I like the drinks (water, vinegar, juice, amazake which is a very light alcohol ) they offer outside the spa.

Pros - great facilities including views, parking, good sized rooms, helpful and friendly staff, pool and onsen, ping pong room, huge buffet breakfast and dinner in a huge dining hall, kids activities, 7-11 convenience store short walk away, bath in the room.
Cons - hotel is situated about 7km from the main sightseeing area of Beppu (Kannawa). If you don’t have a car, taxi is about Y3000 each way. If you do have a car, parking around Beppu is not too hard. Rooms were dated, about 1970s I’d guess, but perfectly acceptable. About 80% of hotel occupants were tour groups, seven big tour busses were parked outside each evening.

The hotel is close to the sea with beautiful views, and the room itself is large and comfortable. There’s also an onsen, which makes the stay even more relaxing. I really liked the welcome lounge and the fact that they provide free alcoholic drinks at two different times of the day. It felt like a perfect mix of comfort, good service, and a touch of luxury. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing stay with some special perks!

Nice rooms for lots of guests. Chapel is so lovely it will make you want to write your vows. Pool is open to public and nice way to cool off after the ceremony. Gift shop is pretty huge and worth exploring, too .

Located just beside sea. Awesome view from hotel. Staffs are good and enough facilities available to relax on holiday in there.

Excellent views and lots of restaurants to choose from! Lots of kids because some Sanrio amusement park is here (or nearby?). Feels spacious but the rooms and bedding feels a bit outdated. Check out the French restaurant for a nice 7 course meal!

Enjoy my onzen Ryokan at Beppuwan. Onzen meals, spacious rooms, nice hotel room view.
