We had a wonderful experience at this ryokan. The rooms are beautifully maintained, the onsen is incredibly relaxing, and the kaiseki breakfast & dinner are masterpieces. The shuttle service is very convenient. Our attendant Kosaku-San was especially fantastic—attentive, kind, and made the meals feel extra special.

For foreigners- it’s worth noting that English is not widely spoken. If you’re not comfortable being the only foreign guest or navigating with limited Japanese, it could feel a bit challenging. However, if you’re open to embracing the cultural experience, it’s absolutely worth it!

We came for the famous Shimoda hot springs during our trip to Japan and stayed at this hotel based on its high reviews. Our room was clean and comfortable, nature in surroundings areas is beautiful and quiet. I also want to extend my heartfelt thank you to Yamane-san who works at the hotel. Not only was he incredibly helpful during our stay, his sense of humor is top-tier too!
The rest of the staff at the front desk and the restaurant were equally wonderful. They provide not only hospitality but genuine warmth to foreign travelers like us. Thank you, Hotel Shimoda Central, for making our trip so memorable.

There happened to be an opening, and the reviews were good, so I went there with my three children. The room with an open-air bath was close to the lobby, which was helpful. There are free drinks in the lobby, which I think is great service. The open-air bath in the guest room was nice and large enough, and above all, the garden gives you a sense of spaciousness. Many inns have installed open-air baths for the time being, but this is wonderful. The large public bath is normal...I guess. The quality of the bath in the room was so high that I only used it once. For dinner, the spiny lobster sashimi was the best. Breakfast is also nice and has a lot of variety. I'm a little disappointed that the staff didn't seem to be that attentive. As the reviews said, it was a good inn to enjoy an extraordinary experience.

I tried it for the first time. The open-air bath in the room was very nice. There were many kinds of dinner, and they were all very delicious. I always stayed at hotels by the sea, but a quiet inn in the mountains would be nice too. I still want to use it.
